ive noticed there is no option to apply for commander in strike of karkand, and a few other maps as well.
i think the commander is an excellent addition, even without any bf2 vanilla skills, he should be in game if just to give orders to squads. we need some one to plan attacks and defenses in game and coordinate moves between squads.
did u guys take him out because u didnt want any radar, supply drops, uav or artillery?

I say make all all new commander mode. Were in urban maps his ardy is mortars. Then in big maps it the big guns. Also easyer to use becuase i still dont know how to use it. Also get rid of supply drop. At there main base put some ammo beds for people to get. Maybe a hummer that has ammo on it.
Then the overview is cool keep that. Then squad commands should have waypoints to tell squads to go up a road on down a alley. Im sure this isent that hard.

For infantry-based maps
Commander
Three Rifle Squads, each having a SL, G, 2 R, M, AR
One Weapons Squad, having 2 MG, 4 R
Unassigned will use tanks, APCs, helos, planes, etc
Additional info:
Commander leads a platoon of infantry
SL is a squad leader
G is a grenadier
R is a Rifleman
M is a medic
AR is automatic rifleman
MG is machine gun

The problem with having vehicle operators in unassigned sqauds is that we cannot communicate with them through voip.

i think we should get rid of the bf2 artillery system as it is and bring back the old bf1942 manned artillery. that was the way to do it man.
no easy look on radar and click artillery thats dumb.

If I dont remember wrong, first you spotted an area with the binoculars. Then you'd sit in a an artillery vehicle and try to line according to a certain angle and distance (you would have indicators for the "correct" distance and angle). When you fire you see the round going from your vehicle to the impact (from the impact point of view) and can adjust accordingly.
Unless that was another game, lol.

wow that seems JUST like Call of Duty 2-acept' you look with binocs, do flare, then artillery comes down like god just farted =P

wow u never tried the artillery ? that is crazy dude, .......
any way the sniper/scout class, or officer class in forgotttenhope mod, would spot a target for artillery with their binoculars, kinda like giving coordinates, then the people on artillery would get a remote camera of the spot and they could see where their artillery lands--- as long as the person who did the spot is still alive.
its quite hard to zero in and use the artillery at first, but once u get used to it, it rocks.
