Rifle Squads

Is it possible to give the player the option of selecting his class in the squad.
let's say when a player joins a squad, he is given the option of choosing one of the classes
Grenadier (0/1) M16 w/ M203
Riflemen (0/1) M16
Medic (0/1) M16
Anti-Tank (0/1) M16 + SRAW
Automatic Rifleman (0/1) M249
The creator of the squad would automatically be the Squad Leader, which would basically be (for the USMC) an M4 or M16 with an ACOG 4x sight.
The second person to join the squad would be promoted to SL if the SL left.

I like the idea of adding squad rolls to the actual ingame squads. I think I read a post about that somewhere on these forums, but I can't recall where or who posted it...
good stuff though..

Yeah, I find it extremely unrealistic to have four AT's and two AR's in one squad

then again, it's a real pain in the *** running into a tank when you don't have the capability to take it down.. :\

Yeah, that's why they should limit each side of one MBT per team (unless the map is supposed to be like a big battle between tanks, e.g., beginning of Persian Gulf War)

Any more comments on these squads?

Not sure that kind of control would be possible... Or it would be a pain in the arse to make
Either way, I like the idea. I'm not too keen on limitations in general, but everyone running around with any kit at their leasure is... Well, as far from anything realistic as one get. It would be nice if you could only be the basic grunt outside a squad, have to join a squad to fill a certain role. On small games in particular it would cause some serious thinking which role to take in which squad, heh. Plus with this system you would avoid having kits to pickup to balance it off, as it would automaticly balance (for example only 1 sniper allowed per squad).

9-10 wow. in real life i'd expect there to be more. only because of the media probably. i always see them walking through Iraq streets with like 1 tank and like 30 guys. Maybe thats not what its really like =\

Servers aren't big enough to have 9-10 man squads
And solodude, the squad I displayed contained five marines with M16s.
The AT guy pretty much acts as a rifleman unless the squad runs into armor.
The grenadier will use his M16 most of the time.
Same with the medic
And the rifleman.

rifle squad classes
rifleman - m16, knife, pistol, and 2 hand gernads
assault - m4 Carbine, knife, 1 smoke gernade, and 2 hand gernades
Medic - m16, knife, medicbag, and shockpads
Grenadier - m16/m203, knife, and 2 handgernads
Weapon squad classes
support - M249, knife, ammobag, and 2 hand gernades - 5 per team
engineer - Remington 11-87, Knife, Mines, and Wrench,
anti-tank - Anti-Tank Missile, knife, and pistol
sniper - M24, knife, and pistol - 3 per team
SF - Mp5, knife, pistol, and c4 - 5 per team

I'm not sure about the the Marines, but a US Army rifle squad contains:
1 squad leader (M4/M16)
2 fireteam leaders (M4/M16)
2 riflemen (1 carries AT weapon, another is the squad designated marksman)
2 grenadiers (M4/M16 w/ M203)
2 automatic riflemen (M249)
A US Army weapons squad contains
2 machinegunners w/ M240Bs
2 assistant gunners w/ M4/M16
2 ammo bearers w/ M4/M16

A US Army squad contains:
Squad Leader
2x Fireteam leader
2x Grenadier
2x Rifleman
2x Automatic Rifleman
I only see two riflemen...

Well, the "fire team leaders" probably count as riflemen, because don't they have m16/4's?

Yes, but my idea for a USMC squad in PR incorporates a variety of soldiers who will use an M4 or M16 almost the entire time.
They're basically riflemen.
Squad Leader -rifleman with SAMR
Rifleman - rifleman
Corpsman - rifleman
Grenadier
Anti-tank - rifleman carrying SRAW or AT4
Automatic Rifleman

I'm not sure if this idea is really possible but it would be cool it if was.
The USMC has 13 man squads.
They are made up of 3 fireteams and a squad leader.
A fireteam has:
Fireteam Leader - M-16A4 w/203
Rifleman - M-16A4 (often with an ACOG x4 scope but not always)
Assistant Automatic Rifleman - M-16A4 (carries the spare ammo)
Automatic Rifleman - SAW
You take three of those and add a squad leader and you have a squad of 13 men. I think the game's "squads" should be renamed fireteams and allow attachments of two Marines for a new "squad" or fireteam of 6.
Attachments are a variety of types of Marines.
Could be engineers (M-16A4 and sometimes shotgun)
AT Gunners (SMAW Rocket - Javelins are a weapons company asset and not very common compared to SMAWs).
Designated Marksman (Should replace sniper class and have an M-14 w/scope setup)
Corpman (medic with an M-16A4)
There is no real specops in the Marines. I take it back. I think they are standing one up now. But before they had Force Recon. They don't have too many of these guys running around. If you wanted to play them I think you should have a seperate map with Force guys. Similar to what Special Forces Expansion did.
So basically it would be cool to have an available slot system for the base four men in the team (Leader, Rifle, AutoRifle, AsstAuto) and then two slots to select attachments. Most would argue that this is too much like Americas Army though and many Rambo's would whine.
