i really wouldn't recommend vista though. It has some issues with PR and BF2.

I've been running on Vista for the past 8 months or so just fine (Although my performance has gone down a little).

those requirements are for vanilla, PR requires more, since it has been a time from BF2's original release and with gradually advancing technology in peoples machines the PR team have been pushing the envelope a bit

2.4 pentium 4
1.5 gigs ram
ati x1300 pro pci top pci card out there
today kashan 15 fps, went 50 and 12 (left afk and died 5 times) and bullseye went something like 40 and 2. best round of pr ever.
As long as the game is somewhat smooth you can have large amounts of fun.

You got a low end Dell mobo with no graphics expansion slot? x1300 isn't something you can play modern games on really.

46 and 2 thank you very much

(and you went 44 and 12)
We set a rally point in the northern hills of South Village and moved in to take it back from the americans. I killed an american who had been dropped off by a BH, and much to my delight he happened to have a HAT. if it wasn't for .61 with the ability to get ammo off of rally points, we wouldn't have had a chance. i killed atleast 2 abrams, 4-5 apcs, 2 AA vehicles, 2 support trucks, 2 repair trucks, 1 humvee, and a fair amount of infantry (killing infantry with the HAT was allowed on that server). after stopping all of their relentless attacks on South Village our team was able to cap the north and south bunkers and we won the game by tickets, even though the enemy at one point had neutralized MEC Outpost.
Easily the most fun i've ever had on kashan.

CPU: Athlon 2600+
VGA: GeForce FX 5700 128MB vRAM AGP
RAM: 2x 512MB 00MHz
OS: Win XP Home 32 bit
Everything on low, resolution 1024x768.
Lags on big map, like Kashan Desert and Operation Phoenix.
More smoke grenades cause lag too.
I don't suggest going anywhere lower.

4gb of ram wont do much difference rather then 2gb, Mostly when it comes down to games its about the Processor, and Videocard.. of course a good Soundcard can give better FPS ( Frames per second ).
CPU: Amd Athlon 64 X2 4200
VC: nVidia Geforce 7300LE
RAM: 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 677Mhz
SC: Soundblaster Audigy Advanced MB
XP Home

4Gb of ram isn not needed for PR, 2GB is strongly recomended. PR is more demanding then vanilla and no matter how slick they make the codes etc. it will always be will be to some degree.
From what I have seen most people with a decent video card i.e. 7600GT/x1600 and up do fine. And by fine I don't mean everything maxed out but a mix of medium and high settings. BF2's engine isn't to heavy on the CPU though an older CPU will bottle neck things.

WHAT?? You mean I've been cheated when the bloody salesman sold me an x600???

But yeah, I DO have an aging x600 and I can still play PR... Looks like **** but it runs...
I bet the P4 3.0 dualcore processor and 2 gb of ram helps... (please don't ask why this rig has only an x600 in it... because I have no clue... honest)

There is NO need for four Gigs of Ram. i stopped noticing improvement once i got over 2 anyway. The step from one gig to two gigs is incredibly noticable though. Thats no lie.

i can run it on 512 ram , tho it lags and the load time is about 15 mins , no lie. so i say 2 gigs if possible.

wait, who are we referring to?

I was disagreeing with Soucy on him saying get 4 gigs. I know windows xp doesnt support a full 4 gigs(in some way or another). Although i dont know specifics, either way, Im not sure what you mean.. didnt I say that? All I was verifying was that 2 gigs is plenty for PR, as I noticed a GREAT performance jump from 1 gig to 2 gigs, and anything after was negligible/nonexistent...
