HEAT vs chopters

I just hit a Blackhawk 3 times with a HEAT (I believe that it's an acronym for Hight Explosive Anti Tank??) shell and it only exploded after my last shot. I also hit an Apache coming strait at me with a HEAT shell strat in the nose but te chopter didnt explode and the crew were still alive coz i didnt get any kills after i fired that shot. Is this just problems with my hit reg or can a chopter take a HEAT shell and still be able to fly away in one piece?? IMO it should be teared apart by that shell. Both the BH and Apache.

lag maybe , or problems with the hit boxes , coz i always shoot down choppers with one shell .

i know i was on kashan, there was a base raping mec tank.
i took off in the lb, faced the thing, at it shot me. i saw the round directly hit the cockpit, and heard a "clang' and the chopper bounced back a little.
the tank was destroyed, and when i went back to land, the lb didn't repair
-
i did not take ANY damage from the heat round.
maybe it was an apfsds round...who knows.

Repair noise for helis will not be heard unless you enter the cockpit twice.
Client side hitbox detection may vary from the servers own calculations afaik so you could appear to hit something that carrys on flying.
Tanks always have a 1 hit kill on any chopper afaik
An APC firing on a littlebird only has to fire and hit 3 times to kill it

It was lag, I hit helos all the time sometimes they blow up other times it doesn't count the round hitting them.. normally its the 150+ pingers flying when it doesnt count.

Must have been bad hit detection mate. However, on the slight side topic of APC rounds vs Helos they need to get a damage boost something fierce, far too often I've seen a Helo fly away from a barrage of APC rounds...

They are just missing Jaymz, I know I do my best to avoid them.
APC is allready deadly to a heli it can actually hit. The recoil on an APC is quite extreme depending on where its parked and accuracy can be heavily compromised just from the action of firing.
See the vid I posted above

Yeah shooting at aircraft with bullets and shells doesn't work at all. Right now they just pass right through. Gotta sneak up and wait till they stop maneuvering.

everytime i have killed a helo it it is with a SABOT, i dont expect HEAt to pass trough a BH's armor and kill it with 1 shot. A sabot can though.

There are no helicopters IRL that can absorb a direct hit from a MBT at all, be it a heat or sabot round, believe it girls, its a fact.

dont underestimate ping / hitbox relations. once on an us server and having a 150 ping,
i shot a guy maybe 20 rounds in the chest at range of 10 meter , a river of blood spilled out of him, he survived.

I think its because of the type of round your using (I dont know if yuo were in a tank or shooting withAA)
HEAT round is anti-infantry, so its not too good against vehicule
SABOT round is the best for vehicule
Maybe thats the answer maybe its not, my job is done

With the apc firing on a BH it takes 10 normal rounds and 21 Heat last time I tested.
We know a tank shell should be fundamentally different but I bet the bf2 engine just basically says, bigger bullet and it delivers this amount of damage.
And its probably half the damage for a Heat round from a tank vs a normal one

High Explosive ANTI TANK vs infantry..? But yeah i know that Sabot is better vs armor.
But still theres no way that a chopter and its crew should susrive a HEAT shell.

Ok fire a HEAt round from a APC at a wall. Then fire a SABOT from the APC at another wall and tell me how they differ.

sabot = tanks
heat = infantry

most likley IRL a sabot round from a MBT will pass straight through the heli, leaving a hole, as there isnt much armour for it to penetrate, so it will keep on going, while a HEAT will explode when it meats the chopper, and the shrapnel will easily penetrate the light armour and completly destroy the heli, much like the difference between AT and AA rockets, AT rockets have to hit the target to damage it, while an AA missile will get close and explode and hopefully the shrapnel fly out and cause maximum damage to the engine of the aircraft

Im glad most tank crew dont know heat is what they should use on hidden or spread out targets.
Heat has alot of splash damage basically

HEAT is high explosive Anti Tank. its still a effective round against tanks
the British tanks don't use SABOT only HEAT rounds because of the rifled barrel on the Challenger 2.
the wouldnt be much spash damage on a HEAT round because it is a shaped charge and most of the blast is one direction with very little shrapnel
HESH is a anti infantry round.
