sniping

so I was playin EJOD. picked up the M14, and went up on the ridge on the east.
our team was gettin blown to smithereens, and MEC was already at gas station. they had an APC, a tank, and a bunch of infantry.
so I started sniping the infantry out, one by one.
"CACHOW"
*crumples*
"CACHOW"
*dead before he hit the ground*
after a while, I had my focus on the APC...people were simply spawning on it and hopping right out.
the first few were dead instantly.
however the third or fouth man out moved his head just the right way and I missed him by pixels....
anyhow, he ducked down.
the shot that was intended for him, pinged off the APC's hull.
INSTANTLY, I saw the turret of the APC swivel around directly towards me, and I was staring down its barrel at 500 yards.
I imagined the driver was hitting "x" twice to zoom in so close he could see the pixelated marpat on my helmet.
*thump thump*
and then vBF2 "aaaooooghhhhhchhh"
and my body flew like a ragdoll
so, what is with this insta-APC ESP?
HOW THE HELL DID THEY KNOW WHERE I WAS?

Not saying that he was cheating but maybe since all the guys you were killing were falling down in a certain way someone told him to look around and when he swiveled the turret he saw you.

Maybe they found out that the guy who was killing everyone behind the APC were killed by a guy behind the APC and they found you ? o_O

It's pretty easy to spot inf in urban territory. Specially when you can see the white glitch glow around the infantry.

Someone else spotted you, the guy you almost shot or he used VOIP.
Instantly the APC knows the compass direction, its not hard for him to pick you out and
your gone
If I die or get shot I usually know the general direction of the shots. Also no friendlies in an area suggests to me a greater possibility of enemies.
Plus where else would you shoot from, the city has traffic coming through it.
The sniper rifle is loud and has a lingering noise to locate it by, its supposed to be the echo that'd be heard but bf2 isnt that sophisicated.
The noise & pseudo echo all comes from where you fired it, your location

The first main rule for snipers:
Attack and relocate!
I mostly change my position after 2-3 shots, or I just hide for a few seconds, because I know the enemy will be warned that there is a sniper out there.

Dont use the M14 as a sniper rifle

If you watch Kennwayy with the Dead Cam, you can see he moves after every shot. Watched him walk along the centre ridge of mestia pausing and taking shots every dozen yards.

The Guy u missed could of had VOIP with the APC and how the round hit off he told him this location.

Probably the guy u missed just spotted u (SNIPER) and even APC would be tempted to get one of those.

It is easy to locate the sniper/marksman/rifleman when he shots from the same position over and over again.

I have had this before. I was gunning an APC on Basrah and getting accused of hacking. You wouldn´t believe how easy it can be to see people if you are paying attention, especially with the zoom. And if people have already been shot, they are going to have some idea where you are.

Some of them even have FLIR. Most of them have pretty good optics. Those with laser rangefinders can usually automatically compensate for bullet drop.
Off the top of my head, Bradley has 12x both daylight and FLIR optics. I know it's an IFV and not an APC, but hell, even CROWS has some serious zoom on it

What exactly is FLIR?

Forward Looking InfraRed. Basically, a camera that sees in infrared. Hot things show up pretty well on them, and they can see through fog and bad weather most of the time, and do not require natural light.

If you were sniping with the M14 then you must've been within visible range of the APC and other infantry. Also if you were camping the back of the APC I'm sure the gunner must've noticed the bodies falling and the rounds bouncing off the back of hit vehicle. So don't be surprised when you start camping a spawn point and someone notices...
