CH-53 for USMC

I know it's not really critical, but I thought about it, and I have a question. Do the US Marines use blackhawks? I didn't think so, but maybe they do. Still, I think it would be really cool if we could get a CH-53 Sea Stallion, maybe on the big maps like Kashan. I know it would be a lot of work for not that much actual output, kinda like how the Merlin is only on a couple British maps, and this would be even less important, but again, I was watching some videos, this time of World in Conflict, and reading one of the suggestion threads about being able to drop supplies or a vehicle, and I thought, "Gee, if they did that, wouldn't it make more sense to have a heavy-lift helicopter to do it?" Somehow I don't see a Blackhawk squeezing a HMMWV out, whereas a CH-53, no prob.

Just a thought.

I like the CH-46 Chinook too, but there a few, well, 'realistic' problems with it. First, it's an Army system, as has been discussed at length about the inclusion of the AH-64 Apache. Secondly, it's well, not really cliche, but what do you think of when someone says "Heavy Lift". The CH-46 or CH-54 Tarhe(most people call it Skycrane) right? So it's different.

i think they scrapped the V-22.
need more fat choppers like the merlin.

Yeah, I know I'm not being terribly convincing, it's a fault of mine. I try and cover both sides of an issue. I'll be the first one to say that it's not really critical to have, but it would be really nice.

One of the other suggestions about supply crates made me think of something. What if you made it so that when an SL requested a supply crate and the CO authorized it, instead of dropping it via 'plane' (we don't see one and only hear it, so you have to assume :razz :) , the CH-53 or equivalent had a 'counter' added to its 'ammo' for Supply Crates, and perhaps a marker or colored smoke grenade is dropped to show where to put the crate. I know this could be abused, but so can anything, really. What do you think?

the marines definitly need the CH-53 in game.

it only takes a quick look in wikipedia to see that the marines do NOT use blackhawks. They also do not use chinooks, they use seak knights, which look exactly the same as chinooks but are much smaller so they can fit on carriers. in fact, a sea knight is smaller than a merlin, the merlin being 74 feet long and the sea knight 46 feet long.

so yeah the marines need the CH 53 in game but i say they much more need the sea knight as that is one of there most commonly used transport choppers, it should replace the blackhawks on the maps. the sea knight would be great if you could transport ALOT of marines, but i believe that is hardcoded to like 8 or something?

For realism I would love to see the Sea Stallion in the game.

Has been suggested very often before, there has been a CH-53 model in the early time of PR that never made it ingame, who knows what the future brings.

Huey was the best suggestion in my opinion.

can't really see the use of a heavy lift utility helo in PR, unless moving supplies around is your idea of fun in a combat sim.

Welcome to the forums. The CH-53 has been suggested before; NP, though. Please do a search before posting a suggestion or question in the future. :)

The Marines do not operate Blackhawks except in the "special air mission" role (presidential and other VIP transport) of HMX-1, but for training and in actual missions they have and will continue to operate from whatever aircraft are on station, no matter which service they belong to. Marines have operated from USAF Pave Hawks, Army Blackhawks and Navy Seahawks / Knighthawks.

This having been said, the Marines have never been the only US branch represented in PR, but this will be solidified once the US Army "sub-faction" is placed on various maps.

And unfortunately the CH-53 cannot roll-on/roll-off a HMMWV; it's not wide enough. Neither can the Chinook. This is why Marine Expeditionary Units have a platoon of Interim Fast Attack Vehicles and the Ranger battalions have a platoon of Ranger Special Operations Vehicles (Land Rover Defender variants) in addition to their HMMWVs.

BTW, as said earlier by charliegrs the CH-46 is the Sea Knight, used by the Marines and formerly the Navy. It's kind of a little brother (medium lift) to the Chinook, which is CH-47, and is due to be replaced in USMC service by the MV-22.

Also, the addition of heavy lift helicopters into the game would not have much utility, as the maps are too small to warrant airlifting any vehicles (even if you could have vehicles on vehicles in this engine) and you can have only a maximum of 8 seats per vehicle without breaking them into multiple collision meshes.

so could we not have a cockpit mesh and two child meshes for each side of the helo?

Oh, sorry about the not-searching. I checked the sticky on previous suggestions and didn't see it so I assumed it hadn't been before. My bad.

I'd love to fly a Huey! Maybe it could be replaced instead of the MH6 Littlebird (Transport Littlebir) cause it is not very realistic that the MH6 is capable enough to carry 6 guys with their gear! Im pretty sure thet the Huey is able to do it.

Did someone say Huey?

I'm pretty sure they did!

As such I say that it should indeed replace the BlackHawk and Little Bird on maps featuring USMC forces!

Great idea but the Blackhawks are used by the USMC and alot. The 1 thing alot of u guys forget the USMC is trained in Sea to beach Atacks when they first start. Then they move up to helos and other units. They are not the US Army please stop putting to add all of these helos in. u dont know hwat the devs have up there Shiny Shirts.'

The Huey is used alot for spec ops sniper teams and small raids. When they captured Saddam Hussien 20 Hueys were droping men off all over the place. Also a Armored force and loads of types of helis.

We will be introducing it after we complete the F-117 Nighthawk, B2 bomber (player controlled) and the XM110 SRSS Sniper Rifle.
