Weather Effects

Is it possible to integrate a lightning storm into a map?
You know...rain, lightning bolts, wind, clouds.
Or what about a map that turns from night to day?
It would start right at sunset and turn night 20 minutes into the game.
This would be a really great addition to future mods
possibly even add the effect of slippery muddy hills from the rain

OGT is ment to have thunder but the editor deleted the damn file on save and forgot to replace it before release.
Rain is possible but looks like **** unless you are going to have a 50m view distance, and infantry only.
Wind is not possible in BF2.
Clouds are already in vBF2 and 3D clouds are already in some maps.
Please use the search button all been talked about before.

Before this is promptly locked, how come the rain looks **** on high view distance? Something to do with it decreasing in quality as the view distance is upped?

BF2 has a max amount of partials that can be rendered at any one time. the only way to do rain in bf2 is via an effect, and effects work on partials. To get a good rain, you need lots of rain drops, lots of rain drops = lots of partials. increase the view distance, you increase the amount of partials you need rendering, meaning that you will get less rain, and if you reach the max amount of partials which is easy to do then things like the smoke when you shoot your gun wont render, tank smoke, smoke nades etc cos all the partials are being used up by the rain. And if you use jeeps, they will "out run" the rain cos the rain takes time to fall from the sky to where you are, and its complicated.
Also if you have 2D rain, which uses the least paritaclas when you look up into the sky, the rain wall fall horizontally on to you, and not vertically.
