Not sure why it wasn't used (since it was in vBF2), but to me it would make more sense than the PKM just on a practical basis; PKM is big and heavy, RPK is not much more than the 47 on which it's based.

Drum magazines might be hard to come by for the insurgents (so they would use std. AK mags, turning it into something similar to the current L86; more accurate AR) but Militia should be able to get a drum mag or two per soldier using one.

I'm guessing a repost tho, I'll have to check :) 'cos you know the MODs will...

I did one for fun. It was a good weapon, and was lots of fun while it lasted.

The MODS will what? ;)

I did a quick search for RPK, and couldn't find anything, even though I recall seeing a thread about it before...gonna leave this open in case a DEV wants to answer.

RPK machine gun

Primary function: 7.62 mm squad machine gun
Weight: Up to 15 pounds (7 kg) depending on magazine
Rate of fire: 150 rounds per minute in automatic mode
Maximum effective range: 2,640 feet (800 meters)
Other features: The RPK is essentially a variant of the AKM assault rifle with a longer, heavier barrel and is fed either by a 40-round curved box magazine or a 75-round drum magazine. It can also use the AKM's 30-round box magazine.

in my opinion we should get the Lahti L-39 back in action lol

Are you sure about that? Doesn't seem right...

Doesnt it have 600 RPM? 150 is just wrong...

Thats practical rate of fire, rather than cyclic.

Cyclic is 600 RPM, but take into account making sure the weapon doesn't overheat (as, IIRC, the barrel is not replaceable on the RPK) and magazine changes 150 seems a reasonable practical rate of fire to me.

PKM is probably the best weapon for insurgents etc. right now. I wouldn't mind another heavy weapon though, they are really underestimated.

any news on GPMG?

What's the big .50cal kinda size fucker in jackal's PKM photo? Looks like some sort of anti-material/tank gun.

I wouldn't mind seeing both the RPK and PKM being used. I'm guessing that the militia and insurgent forces would get their hands on any weapon and make it work.

I think that MEC Support should have the PKM,just because it has wood on it's rear/stock,and handle, doesn't make it "bad" it's a kick but gun,and INS. would be more realistic with the RPK-74,but they're also realistic with the PKM,they us both...

Sorry, just because they're in the middle east does not obligate them to use old Soviet equipment. The HK-21 kicks ***, AND it has simi-auto.

insurgents have by all means used PKM's before, i remember reading someone (possibly even on this forum some months ago) about a US squad that went into a building that was a suspected terrorist hide out. When they went into the bathroom, the insurgents were in the basement directly below them, and started firing the PKM.

The US troops weren't able to return fire because their weapons couldn't pierce the floor boards, so they had to leave and call in an airstrike. It's definitely got some firepower, that's for sure, but i'm not sure if it was that common.
