Compass Accuracy

I did a search, and i found a few threads but nothing covered this.
Would it be possible to make the compass a little more accurate ? I mean, not just W,SW,S, etc. there's un used lines in the compass that could be used for something like a Number or a character.
When i play i usually sit in a tank and for my gunner to understand what direction to point his gun at asap he needs to look at his compass however if its somewhere in the middle of S-SW and at long distances you need to be accurate.. perhaps this is something to consider ?

yeah, I think it would be nice. Somebody should get some real life references for that.

What about just using SSW? (South-South-West) Or ENE (East-North-East). I really can't see anyone needing anything more specific than any of those.

How about sticking on bearings in degrees or mills?

Yea, t'would be good. Would there be a way to incorporate a vertical scale too to make tanking easier?
"Enemy; 125, minus 5"
Enemy at bearing 125, -5 on the elevation scale (which would be much larger than the compass, since the barrels don't have much elevation).

yeah, adding 360 degrees scale would be usefull...

in the tournament we used to say the main direction (e.g. the driver in the tank sees someone and tells the gunner to shoot at that diretion) the more accurate direction in pitches on the compass...e.g.: 3 pitches left of west ...so you look three pitches left of west(not the small ones but the bigger ones)....that was quite usefull but i agree a number would be faster
