I was playing Battlefield 2 Special Forces the other day,due to the fact the time I wanted to play PR,most of the servers were low amounts of people,so I went and played some good ole' BF2:SF,which starngley had a 36/64 server filled and I was playing the map Iron Gator.So I jump in and I'm U.S. Navy SEALS and I'm moving to grab the Apache Longbow that just happens to spawn,and then some tear gas is launched up on the deck,so I throw on my gas mask,and jump in the chopper,when I think to my self,WOW,pilots in jets in real life would have this view due to their masks.

Idea:I was thinking the view and sounds of breathing you get when wearing your gas mask in BF2:SF could be applied while flying to jets in PR.I know,the current view allows you to see more,and I'm fine with it,it could be like you mask is off........cough.....But to make it more realistic,that view could be added in...But if not the view,then the sound.?

The sounds are probably correct when the jet ambiance is added (I'm not a pilot, but would like to be one if/when I can) but the shape of the mask is screwed up. The pilot mask is basically a giant plate of the same stuff in sunglasses.

very cool, i would like to see something like little borders around the edges of the screen that would make up a mask.

The only thing I wish they would change in Piloting is changing the damn UI for them... its horrid and needs to be reworked.

good sugestion, if its doable would be a nice adition to the pilots.

i like this idea it kinda adds to the "realism" factor of being a fighter/bomber pilot, my uncles a fighter pilot for HANG (Hawaii Air National Gaurd) so i know abunch about F-15's and C-17's and shit but i dont think the pilots viewing is abstructed in any way by the helmet although i would like to hear the heavy breathing sounds like darth vador kine and tinting the pilots view would be a little more realistic than a goggle shaped screen

Just don't make the Darth Vader breathing too loud, I'm not flying to listen to oxygen going in and out

And I guess, that would apply just for jet pilots, as helicopter pilots don't use the mask/sunglasses in PR

wear a pair of sunglasses and a breathe through a scarf when you fly then.

Yeah I like this idea, keep the breathing effect to some extent though if it's not silent in real life. Obviously check what sluggo said how much the helmets are obstructing a pilots view though, the visors do look pretty big on them.

I think that its a good suggestion But pilots dont exactly have a gas mask on, so the view should be different.

Well,of course I'm meaning for Jet pilots,and yea,keep the breathing sound not too noticable,and the gas mask from BF2:SF is kinda too much of a vision cut,you could cut that down ad edge it possibly?Another thing in the pilot topic,why do the MEC have the Havok,they should have what,the Hind?And Russians the Havok...OFF TOPIC HERE>But another thing,MEC should get PKM for support,it might look like a rebellion gun,but most middle eastern countries use it.I actually don't know of any,or about to middle eastern countries that use any weapons made by H&K...

I don't think the helmet limits pilots view in anyway. Who in their right minds would design a helmet that would? I'm just speculating, but you could probably see the mouth-peace of the air hose kinda like you can see your nose.

cool idea but i dont know if its realistic cause the helmets pilots wear have huge glasses and im not sure if your field of view is anyhow prohibeted by the helmet or mask

Hm, I'd probably request the pilot kit even when I'm going to be infantry so I can be all 1337 seeing through the mask.

Instead, why not do something like make missiles be able hit a slow moving helicopter instead of veering off and killing an a-10? That would be a nice addition. I guess if other stuff gets done prior, then this would be a nice touch.

see how the only thing blocking the pilots vision is the oxygen hose/cup thing over his mouth... so yeh it would more look like you have a mask over your mouth not your eyes or anything, pilot helmets were designed so they could see everything around them

Yea,so there could just be that nose piece near the bottom of the creen while flying jets.

As said above, the view the visor gives the pilot is usually excellent, and there are no restricting views. Its only when the pilot has been persuaded to put on full NBC gear, then vision becomes a problem. basically, it is a giant complicated gas mask that uses oxygen bottles and filters instead of just filters. however i do believe the pilots should get a breathing sound added, to make a it more immersing, but not so much as it annoys the player to no end
