Well seen as how China are all grown up with their shinny new QBZ series their is no more Type56/AK47 (copy) with nade launcher so why not give it to the insurgents?

I always wondered in 0.5 why the Insurgent had a AK101 with GL over the Type56/AK47 with GL.

So my suggestion is, give the insurgents a pickup kit with the Type 56 but say its a AK47 with GP25 give him 4 Grenades and no smokes.

Insurgents already have a Grenaidier kit, AK101 which is given to Squad leaders " Officer kit" can be requested by Ammo dumps

Yeh i know, but how many Real life insurgents you seen with an AK101? ;-)

Type 56/GL is a much more realistic option.

The Insurgent Grenadier in 0.5 was a MEC SF, that's why he had the 101 :P .
Don't ask me about the Ins SL though ;)

Are AK-47's with grenade launcher really that common today? Might as well just get rid of the grenade launcher on the AK-101.

tbh i think the Ins SL should get the AK-47 w/UGL because simply, as robbo said, how many insurgents have u seen with a 101

How many insurgents have you seen?
Guess I'm the only one here who doesn't see insurgents on a daily basis :\

define seen ? they obviously mean like youtube and livevideo videos , which of course is not 100% accurate but are real terrorists , and if u watch enough then u get a good idea of the type of weapons they use.

wow to the ******** that need "seen" defined, of course its by youtube videos. And rarley people see it in real life. Maybe give the officer an rpk? to be honest gl's are rare these days, and insurgent probably blow more of each other up because of in proper usage.

i think the 101 is there to represent the belief that foreign forces are training and supplying insurgents in their objective.

...mongol...

I thought 101s were pretty rare even in Russia though? As far as I remember it's only a few more prestigious forces that use em. So if there too expensive for widespread use in the Russian Military, how would a poor insurgent group afford them?

AK101 is just a 5.56mm version of the AK-74M with black plastic furniture. It is not in service with Russia or any nation-state's armed forces that I am aware of, just one of the rifles in the AK 100 series made by Kalashnikov for whoever wants them.

You may be thinking of the AN-94 "Abakan," which was selected over the Kalashnikov entrant to be the new Russian service rifle, but like other top-of-the-line Russian weapons, there aren't that many floating around due to lack of funds.

I'm guessing its inclusion in the game was just another random act by DICE who thought it looked cool.

Isn't the AK-101 just the export version of the AK-74?

No, the AK-74 is the export version of the AK-74. They still make them and sell them. But there were not many buyers outside of the old Warsaw Pact; most Kalashnikov users were already license-producing the AK-47/AKM and its ammunition and were satisfied with them.

@Eddie

To be honest i was hoping the Mec would have been more of an Organized Militia like in PR.(Except with Fighters and Other heavy vehicles) With AK's of some sort as their main assault rifle and other russian equipment.(In the trailer it said RPG on rooftop!) Although i heard that originally Bf2 was supposed to have More factions (among other things they promised) One was an Insurgent side and a Real Brit team but that was scraped for EF boosterpack, And i also wish that Dice would have made a real Pla with Qbz-95's like PR.

But we all know why that never came to fruition because of Ea's bullshit policies on Money > Customer Satisfaction.

I think the reason the Insg SL has the AK101 is because according to the PR story of the AK101 it was once the service rifle of the MEC. SO it would seem likely that a MEC rifle could get into the hands of an Insurgent.
