All i did was update my driver to 7.10 and now PR dumps to windows after splash screen..
I have a sneaky feeling its my wide screen mod i put in the short cut.. but it worked fine before the update..
Anyone have a similar experience?
***EDIT***
Problem fixed... wish i could tell you how i fixed it.. it just started to work
however.. For the guys looking to play in wide screen mode:
here is a guide

Delete your cache for BF2 and reset things up. Might help you out. I luckily didn't have to, though loading maps up fresh brought the shader message and slow loading time.

Its standard procedure, it just has to recompile things as it loads the map which is a small one off extra delay.
my docs/bf2/mods is the cache

Actually the 7.10 is the new catalyst suite. The driver is 8.2 or something like that. Just curious...you need to use the ati unistall utility in your REMOVE/ADD programs from the control panel first. Then install your updated driver and suite. I updated mine, and it is working fine. Hope you get it fixed.

That sounds about right. I went ahead and uninstalled everything related to ATI with their removal tool and then did a clean install of Catalyst etx. (I also have wide-screen code in my PR shortcut) and have never had issues with any driver updates thus far.

any one got a x1950pro and tried these drivers yet? I looked at the change log on the drivers but didn't notice any improvements for the x1950pro.

What is this widescreen code you speak of? I just bought a 19" widescreen and had to adjust the horizontal size in game since there isn't a resolution ratio equal to 1440X900. It's kind of weird shooting at Brits that have heads that look like Stewies...

I had problems when I tried to install the driver without reinstalling the whole Catalsyt suite. I used the ATI unistall utility, and then installed Catalyst 7.10. Now it works like a charm.
