Let's accessories our armies with additional transport or statics (56K warning)

I think I'm going to be flamed for the idea but it was generated from the Aircraft armament stacking and Armored Recovery Vehicle threads. I also added the idea of spawn points related to the vehicles role BUT this is only an additional extra but I think it would help the use of those specialist under-appreciated roles.

I'm being a bit of a pig here and only giving examples of British equipment that could prove useful as an additional or replacement to current vehicles already on maps. If not I'm sure some statics could also add some atmosphere.

FUEL TRUCK
Image
It would add some atmosphere to bases. Although it would be cool to drive aroudn and such and see the big explosion...NO. It has no practical use. Make it there and make it so it can blow up - nothing else. Don't have the aircraft in range of explosion though.

HOWEVER; having it with in range of aircraft or a vehicle could possibly enforce or lend to the importance of base protection with it being an effective target for aircraft which in turn could be used to make the role of the 'anti-aircraft rifleman' more importance as well as adding cause to possible A.A expansions (Starstreak HVM for example) although the huge anti-aircraft cannon could be used alone. I have excluded Starstreak HVM/Vehicle based version and rapier from my ideas because they are only expansions.

SPARTAN
Image

"Spartan is a derivative of the CVR(T) vehicle (Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance tracked). Spartan is used by specialist troops which can include Mortar Fire Control Teams, anti aircraft teams equipped with HVM, or as Engineer Command/Reconnaissance Vehicles."

PRACTICALITY. With Mortars coming in .7 (or so I heard) maybe a platform for 'mortar men' and engineers and anti-aircraft men to spawn on. This would encourage more use of these classes if they had advantages. (ideally the Spartan would be somewhere close to the squad!) but it could still be better than a hike from the base of operations.

Good vehicle for transport use and it has a GPMG too lol

SAMSON
Image

"Samson is a derivative of the CVR (T) Vehicle (Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance Tracked) - it is the Armoured Recovery Vehicle for all the vehicles in this class."

I'm unsure of the specialisation of the pictured one because the one in the picture below it seemed to have a turret; but hopefully it is the standard one. This could be used as the already-suggested Armored Recovery Vehicle. Also it could be used as a spawn point for engineers.

SAMARITAN
Image

"Samaritan is a derivative of the CVR(T) vehicle - it is an armoured ambulance equipped with stretchers."

Practically designed in mind with BF2 the SAMARITAN has only 8 vehicle positions :P

Commander, Driver, 6 casualties.

It could be used as a mobile healing station. Like a big medic but not going to run away from you lol Additionally it could also serve as a mobile spawn point for medics. Again; this may help the cause for use of the medic class. (love me you know you want to)

FODEN GS
Image

"A heavy recovery vehicle employed primarily in support of the wheeled logistic vehicle fleet to recover immobilised vehicles as a result of bogged down in soft ground or broken down. The vehicle is fitted with a powerful hydraulic winch, crane and outriggers."

Our next armored recovery vehicle - it's big so it would realistically cope with your CR2. Again it could be a spawnpoint for engineers.

PRO's - Better than previous recovery vehicle suggested because it can cope with heavier loads.

Additionally; a GPMG on the front cab would be lovely (I'm sure they do this in real life as they do on other support/utility vehicles)

TRUCK CARGO 14 TONNE
Image

Self explanatory but it is usually sued for carrying fuel or NATO stores. I would only suggest this as a STATIC. Use as an ammo 'point' too.

TRUCK CARGO 4 TONNE GS
Image

"The 4x4 Leyland/DAF 4-tonne GS (General Service) is the latest version of the Army’s ‘Four Tonner’, the trusty Army lorry encountered wherever British troops are to be found. The truck can carry 20 troops (plus 3 in the cab) or 3 NATO standard pallets, and may be encountered with a variety of specialist bodies, or a 6.3 tonne crane. The 4-tonne GS is air-portable in a C130 Hercules aircraft."

Okay so we'll have to settle for it only being able to carry 5 people in the back and 3 in the front but still it's usefulness shouldn't be denied.

I'm suggesting this is a moving working vehicle that could be used additionally or as a replacement for some vehicles on maps. Maybe this vehicle should be a mobile spawn point for H-AT or Support or Grenadier or even all 3. I think limiting it to H-AT would be best though because otherwise it would become:

LWNSUV (lawn-suv) - LONE WOLFING NADE SPAM UTILITY VEHICLE.

Don't forget to add the GPMG on top of the front cab!

PURPOSE?
What do you think? Do you think this could: add more identity to each army/faction, give us some more toys to place with, increase realism with vehicle variety & purpose, increase the use of under-appreciated specialistc kits, make pretty base accessories.

I think the idea is god-like personally but that's just an opinion and this is just an idea.

Medavac's has been suggested before, Recovery vehicles? I dont think its possible to "drag" another vehicle.. so pretty much pointless as we have Support trucks.. Fueltruck has been discussed before...

Use the search button buddy :P

interesting...

good ideas there (esp. Samaritan & Samson) but it ups to the devs i suppose...

I know they were suggested before. I said where the ideas came from but also implemented further usage giving the idea further value. I had some original suggestions so I put them in a thread with those because then they'd be like new & shiny suggestions and get more attention (just marketing some usage ideas aswell as my own to more people).

Edit - MedEvac wasn't the suggestion. It was a mobile healing station. (I know your Swedish so you probably mis-interpreted what I was saying)

The actual use of an Armored Recovery Vehicle is currently being discussed in another thread and I believe it can have a very practical use as the best/most realistic/viable idea in the thread and as I stated a spawn point for engineers.

Fuel truck's would however be very useful in convoys, if they make the Scenario Mode

Well, we need to rembember that it still is Battlefield we're talking about. There's no way the devs can or want to turn BF2/PR into a combat simulator a lá Flashpoint with people driving fuel trucks, repair trucks, manings aid stations, directing flights at the runway, cooking in the messhall, etc. PR will problary keep focusing on the fighting part of the militarys.

Valid point but it's battle mobility I'm more concerned about. I'm not saying un-load ammo (unless it's on the enemys lol) and symphon fuel and such. I'm just saying more toys could prove very useful in game play. It's not like I'm saying we have more than one of each suggested vehicle per round because I know that would take away from game-play.

I can see your point of view very easily ... but who says PR can't be a combat simulator in it's current form? It simulates combat to an extent just not worthless support/3rd line elements (they are only useless in GAMES...which are designed for FUN and I am aware that artillery isn't useless lol).

It reminds me of when someone suggested something like: eating, excretion and some really un-fun like huge time wasting actions to be available in OFP2.

The difference is my ideas are directly to do with warfare...they have guns, deploy soldiers (mobility) & fix things all on the frontline.

Additional cause for interest has been expressed with the linking of 'scenario' mode too.

Currently. The maximum amount of players is 32 v 32. Pretty much all of your suggestions are support based vehicles which just wouldn't work without twice that. Cool suggestion but we're already pushing numbers to the limit.

I can see your point well. It is also players vs vehicles vs map scenario style hell.

But I will say the exceptions are:

SPARTAN - Combat Deployment purpose rather than recce (even if these are engineers ...they are engineers, anti-air riflemen and motarmen with guns and are most likely parts of squads that will have objectives)...this is not an Armored Recovery Vehicle or military support be it recce or healing...this is gameplay support.

TRUCK CARGO 4 TONNE GS - Large Scale Combat Deployment (well...as far as BF2's engine permits that's 8 people lol); simply that isn't armored like the Warrior.

Both also offer more variety.

But I do still see the number of players vs vehicles problem especially with the introduction of CR2 and Scimitar but if they were to be included at least they would be there to use on certain maps (Helmand style) or in 'scenario' mode.

Having said that..tell me there isn't purpose-ful room for a Samaritan on a map such as Ghost Train and Seven Gates.

Make the fuel truck as an uber transportable exploding barrel :D and maybe the ammo trucks as moveable ammo points. It'd also be good to have troop carrier trucks in PR.

Hmmmm... Idea! Cook Class for 0.7. Equipped with a spatula to use against the enemy in melee combat, and throw able potatoes which help replenish stamina for friendly soldiers.

In all seriousness I think a lot of the suggestions could be used for statics, such as the fuel truck and such, just to make main bases like the one on Al Basrah seem a lot bigger.

I still like the ARV suggestion, which IMO makes a better substitute over the support jeeps currently in game. Especially if you read some of the idea bing thrown around the ARV topic.

I like the mortar vehicle suggestion too. Might be interesting to see how players would utilize them.
