That map was a murder when the MEC held the air strip. Also it makes it so the US or Brit team must use more tactics and the other just si and wiat so u can kill. I would love a map at night of that though. Make it fair.

well u had an airport, and the MEC had like almost half the maps, 2 being neutral ( i think) and then the first flag the brits had was at a beach where you spawned in the air with an parachute :D

scoped G3 + paratroopers = turkey shoot.
unless it's like a night map with clods/fog (like the one for the russian community project)

A map with paratroops would have to be fairly large. I don't think that it would work if the only insertion method was a paradrop. Now perhaps if there was a large map with a US staging area with a few US aircraft ( I doubt the 101 or any other paratroopers would jump into an area where there isn't air superiority ) and then a forward drop zone where you either A) spawn in parachuting or B) hop out a flyable C-130 or C-17 <- that would be pure a concentrated sweetness.

To run with the idea of a flyable transport plane, I remember for bf1942 Forgotten Hope used that dynamic as well as they could. Add a paratrooper kit, a flyable C-130 any large enough map now would have paratroopers. That fact would be balanced out with the fact only complete blockheads would fly the C-130 once the game is in full swing (AA bait?)

Stationary spawn ins forcing you to drop in helplessly seems a little... well... silly. Im pretty sure MEC or Chinese or US or British Mobile AA and 50 cals will make that map sink to the bottom of any rotation.

Also occured to me you could potentially have the C-130 as a commander asset, meaning you'd A) need a commander to place it on the map B) need to use it wisely because it costs tickets C) have some level of organisation in the sense that if the commander is calling in a C-130 he must have a good tactical reason <- good commander assumed.

maybe give the coalition spawnpoint only on RPs, and the mainbase, i would love just landing in a big airstrip see 10 people walk up the ramp take off, drop them and repeat the process.

Vanilla BF2: SF had a semi-paratrooper map called Warlord and what I liked about it most was shooting down the spawning SAS up in the air as to not give them a fighting chance to capture the flag at the start of the round.

From what I understand... a new version of Airport is in the works. In any case, I don't think we'll see a C-130 or any other transport aircraft added anytime soon. Simply because they're too large and too fast for the maps to support (Remember PR aircraft speeds are a lot faster than vanilla).

I think a better idea might be to keep it simple. Have several para-spawns placed around the map (Give each one a name such as LZ1, LZ2, LZ3 etc.). The para-spawns only last for the first 5 to ten minutes of the game. The paratroopers however will in most cases drop close to a neutral CP which they can immediately capture and utilize as a staging point. Their vehicles will spawn in there (airdropped vehicles for the most part) and they'll have the capability of spawning on the CP.

not by the dev team, can tell you that much. Was made by a vBF2 community modder.

In any case only the largest of the large maps could have practical use of paratroops. I don't know much about the specifics of a C-130 but if they can fly slow enough to pound targets in it's role as the AC-130 Gunship im sure the max speed can be tweaked for playability sake ;) Besides, the distances in PR are exaggerated to begin with. It sure seems like you're running for ages but in reality that US Air Base and Mec Airfield are close in a jolly dumb way. I'm gonna guess the C-130 argument has played out many times on the forums so I'll spare everyone any further defence of it lol.

I just plain don't like fixed drop zones. It limits the whole point of having paratroopers in the map. The idea behind paratroopers would be to try to drop in a unique area, near or behind enemy lines that will give you a tactical advantage. The idea with fixed drops becomes this: give the enemy target practice. It's like shooting the flying disk with a shotgun, you know where it's gonna come from all you have to do is hit it...

can't we have like a mobile c130 spawnpoint? they did it in the russian forces project. i think it would be loads better.

the enemy can't always predict where its going to be.

that was what i was thinking.

if they made it so you could walk around in it as well would be nice (then we can use the side doors like they realy do.
