Concerning the soon-to-be requetable spec-ops....

So now that spec-ops will be a limited kit, I wanted to open up a discussion about how the kit currently is and how it will be in the future.

One of the many great things of PR is that each kit has a clearly defined role, and the contents of that kit warrant how it should be played. In my opinion, however, the spec-ops kit has never really been a kit well-suited for its job.

For example, remember when the grenadier was changed to a limited kit, and they gave it 7 grenades instead of the previous 4? That was a TERRIFIC move by the devs. Why? Because that kit is called GRENADIER, and they're supposed to be able to wreck some havoc. Now that spec-ops will be limited, I am personally hoping that the kit gets a little more added to it.

We all know what the kit has, but I think that the special forces are a little, well...not special. You all may not find anything wrong with the kit, it's just MY opinion that it is lacking something.

Any one (or 2)of the following things added would make the kit feel more "complete" to me:

-2 grenades (I don't know why they don't have these, I mean cmon, how much do 2 grenades weigh)
-another SLAM (you could argue this all day, but I think it would be fine)
-bring the parachute back
-grappling hook
-one pack of c4
-2 LESS carbine magazines for the trade of one of these above additions

Now that spec-ops will be limited I don't think it would be bad at all to give it an extra treat that, in my opinion, it needs.

This is more of a discussion than a suggestion thread, what do YOU GUYS think of the kit now/in the future/what would you like to add or take away?

Silenced pistol and/or a PDW would rock. The Devs also said at one stage that the spec op class was not a direct confrontation class so loosing a few mags to make room for other equipment makes sense.

yeh, sounds ok to me, but i would prefer the 3 SLAMS and no C4

dont like the idea of C4, but the flashbangs + slams would be good, and maybe the abilty to run non stop, seeing as SF are the elite that country has to offer???

dont think they need too much stuff as the idea is they are the scouts/spotters etc.

i'm just wondering if spec ops is going to unlimited requestable? (ala light at) or if it's going to have a limit....

i wouldnt mind seeing it have m4 +4mags,
pistol
flashbangs or regular grenades
smoke grenades
grapplin-hook
3x slams....

they need to get in, get out, and get the job done, and everyone knows slams are worthless, so would either need to give them another one, or bump up the dmg just a tad.

I understand, but are they really scouts/spotters? Maybe in theory, but not in application. EVERYONE has binoculars on the standard armies, they don't have the SOFLAM any more and their weapon is scoped to like a 1.5 or 2x zoom. If that's what they're intended for, I don't think their kit is really well suited for scouting.

I agree with you very much about your comment on the SLAMS, damage could use a little tweaking, and I really think giving them 3 or even 4 would be fine. It's their job to destroy assets, right? It's not like giving HAT another 2 rockets or giving engineer 4 packs of c4, it's just a SLAM....

IMO spec ops is useless in PR now. There is nothing to do for him. If we would have some assets that he could destroy... I dont know, a repairing station, ammo supplies (number of special kits (HAT, sniper and so on) would be depend on this) or any other vital things to the opossing forces thats not in direct use, but gives them bonuses. And now? What he can run up to APC, tank, command post, bunker...etc and theres high probability that either he gonna be killed cause those assets are the frontline or his demolition strength wont be enough to cope with those. Thats only me though, you can have diferent opinion

I disagree to an extent. A spec-ops at the rear destroying bridges and jeeps can be effective in channeling the enemy into discreet positions and also stops the influx of heavy assets such as tanks. On the other hand, a spec-ops who takes out abandoned enemy vehicles is useless or even downright traitorous as this allows new "playtime" to spawn where they are needed for the enemy.

Uhhhhh- you must not play insurgency mode if you think SLAMS are worthless.

Grappling hook would be a nice addition. Would be perfect than as a spotter for a sniper.

I'd like to see the SLAM remote detenated and have a little more power as it works by launching big slug that can reak havok on vehicles it would be good to use it in ambushes.
