also, I think the amount of recoil should vary depending on if you are supported (i.e. prone)

Great comparisons you got there, first video shows a carbine with Eotech, second shows a BIPOD mounted AR15 mod, while the first PR vid shows the 4x zoom ACOG placeholder.
Also, YouTube videos are known as the ultimate proof for everything...

well i just meant i would like to see more of a really quick "snap" or "flick" to the recoil, instead of the really smooth straight upwards motion we have now
i mean in all honesty, in any gun you shoot, the force as a reaction to the bullet leaving the muzzle pushes straight back on the bolt, which in turn pushes back on the weapon. the amount of up/down/whatever is dependent on the stiffness of the object that is holding it in place. if it is your arms, the weapon will look somewhat like it does in the videos, it doesn't just go straight up, and its not as smooth or as slow as it is in game.

If youre talking about the fact that the rifles in the videos have alot less recoil and that you would like to see that in the game... well no.
Because in the vids, the guys are obviously putting pressure on the rifle to counter the recoil, thus having a better aim.
Ingame this is represented by the fact that you use youre mouse to counter the recoil by moving it downwards,or sideways (whatever direction is needed to counter the effect) try it, its reallity.

No its not necessarily that- if I was talking about that, it would be pointless to start this thread, because that has been suggested many times before.
what i'm saying is that the recoil model right now is too slow and too smooth. It should be much quicker and more jumpy.

You can't change the recoil between stances. Instead the random deviation is altered. There is a modifier though, which returns the barrel to more or less its original position after firing. This results in comparatively tight groups for semi-auto fire and wide groups for fully auto fire. Currently, all the support weapons, except the HK21E for some strange reason, have it.

now that you say it pastfreak, the recoil animation is a bit slow, yes, then i agree, a snappier animation would be great.

There's a setting called gobackonrecoil which we might implement in 0.7, along with loads of recoil adjustment.

i had a thread about this when 0.6 was released. i agree that aiming takes skill now but the guns dont feel like rifles anymore
the best shooters in PR right now are those that shoot on full auto but are amazingly gifted at pulling the mouse down.

well..its not that hard to keep pulling the mouse down, and this is NOT what this thread is for.
It is NOT a suggestion to make recoil go up and then back down. I am fine with the way it is (moving straight up)
HOWEVER,
It needs to be faster and jumpier. It is wayy too smooth and slow right now.

Agreed, fire some real firearms the recoil is almost instant, obviously.... your taking the impact of a controled explosion. its not a gradual push up, if it was in real life then large caliber weapons wouldent have the ability to hurt you with their recoil.

good point, it needs to be snappier. just put that in the first post next time to stop confusion. anyway a snappier animation would be sweet, and could solve spray and prayers if implimented correctly

I'm bring this back up simply because after using all four main support weapons I have found the HK21E to be completely un-usable in comparison.
The US M249 SAW and GB L108A1 Minimi are the best hands down. Even the PLA QBB-95 with the increased kick isn't that bad. However the MEC HK21E is ridiculous. Can you honestly even compare the four guns? What military in their right mind would use a support weapon that is supposed to put down range 20 to 30 bullets at a time with that much kick uncontrollable.
Please simmer down the recoil on the HK21E and bring it close to the line of the QBB-95 at very least.
Cheers.

idk if you guys noticed but the recoil is definitely "snappier" than in 0.6
