Hello there.

I've been modelling for a few months now, and thought I'd break a new barrier - animation.

and well..

I started modelling a M60 Patton, cause I just love that tank (not intended for PR or any other game)

but just wanted to share my first little animation with you guys ( I know its crappy quality and the guns sticks out of the screen, but thats not the point :D )

As I write I'm making a better render with a longer sequence :)

Also, if you animate something in 3Ds max - is it hard to convert those animations to the bf2 editor for use - caues if its not too hard I could do some animation jobs in the future (when I get some more routine)..

My friend is making an M60A3 Taiwan version for the Taiwan community mod. It's already finished modelling, but it needs to be exported, textured, and animated. Actually, I don't think tanks need animation, simple rotational objects would work for the turret and the commander's MG The tracks are done using animated UVs. Maybe the firing needs animations.

Anyway, my point is, it would be nice if you can maybe try animating my friend's already finished M60A3.

here is a better video of it (in color, didnt bother to UV map this WIP just to show off the animations..)

Griffon - I could try (and this is the M60A3 I'm working on too (just a small project of my own, so I'm still doing it ;) )

I could try to animate it for him, but I am not too familiar with the implementation of models, animations and such into the bf2 engine/editor - this will come, but as of now I have no idea on how to proceed if I wanted to put the animations into bf2 - I'm not trying too, but if I was to help your friend, I would have to know I think...

I know about the shortage of animators in this industry, that is also one of my motivations behind doing this (besides making my models come to life).

But I think it will be quite some time before the DEVs will be able to use my poor services, I have afterall only been messing around with 3Ds max for ~2 months now.
But then again the IDF people seemed to like my work on the Negev... well you never know :) and I like surprises too ;)

The animation for BF2 is the challenge, not the animation for 3DS. Nice anyway.

I was going to try some simple animation in the BF2editor but that thing tends to crash every 10 minutes for me.

Thats what I wanted to know. Anyways its irelevant, cause I'm just happy to learn new stuff. I'll take on the bf2 editor animations some other day 8-)
