i dont know about many of you out there but wan somone joins a game with over 170 ping i just kills the game play as sun as i can see them. but after they get killed or leave the server the lag problem stops. it just does not mater if the server is full or not"lager killed game play with only 8 people!". all it takes is one to run the game for me and my group that plays PR. even trying to kill them is harder. we know were hiting them. even with the marksman kit with head shot thay still run away like nothing hit them.
i think that servers should start kicking players with ping over 200 add least.

A person with a high ping does not effect your gameplay, only their own. AND, I hope servers don't start kicking, as I like to play on Thors which is across the pond from me (and therefore I have a higher ping).

God is that old wives tale about high pingers lagging a server still floating around?
One would have thought by now , what with all the professed knowledge about computers , that it would have long ago died.
Ping is the measurement of time it takes a packet to go to a server. The further away , the higher (longer it takes) the ping.
If anything , it's a server load problem (number of players and amount of bandwidth being used). The guys with a higher internet speed (more bandwidth) are the ones overloading the servers.
The players with a 200-300 ping suffer some penalty in game play but don;t effect anyone else.

No.
It's true that it's harder to hit players with higher ping, however they don't have it much easier. It's actually worse for them, because for him, everyone else is lagging.

Ping never seems to correlate with how smooth BF2 plays for me ever. Some of the smoothest games I've had have been on over 100.

ppl think ping effect servers etc back from the quake days / CS where every one had a 56k and then ping did effect servers / other players.
These days with DSL etc ping has hardly any effect on any other players or on the server. The only player to lag from his ping will be him self, due to the net code, every player dose not need to rely on the info every player is sending, they rely on what the server is telling them, and the server will tell them where it thinks the player is, and if the player aint updating the server enough to tell it, the server will guess. why the only player who gets penalized for high ping, is the player with the high ping. You can play upto 300 ping with no real lag probs, beyond that you yourself will probaly start to feel the lag pretty badly. A game can easily be played with 120 ping, even 250ping. Above 250 it dose start to get bad thou.
Really what needs to change is the players frame of mind, yes lower ping is better, but not essential.

agreed...i always play over 200 as i live in japan....only on the jap servers do i get anything lower...
its a total old wives tale...not an ounce of meaning in it at all...the worst that happens is i lag..(cause im not getting packets fast enough) everyone else just goes on their merry way....

The bad thing is that I live in germany and the most servers are in the United States and when I join them I have mostly a ping around 160...

Please expand on your reasoning for "Yes" (unless it's simply to keep other [R-MOD]'s off a server )

No, I was saying "yes" because I was disagreeing with his "no", which was his disagreement that people with high ping don't slow the server.
So in a roundabout way I'm saying that high ping types don't slow a server, and people with high pings should not be kicked.

no that would be a problem. Even though ping can affect your play alot that would cut the pr community in half. That wouldn't be cool

Oh I thought your Yes meant No but wasn't sure since if you had said No it would have meant Yes so, put simply , Yes in this case means No while a No would have meant Yes.
Now I understand. (and have a head ache too
