I just about finished the mesh for my first Biped, its just under 2500 tri's

This is a model im working on for a HL2 mod called zombie panic, im trying out for their dev team, it isn't much of a challenge compared to some of my previous models, but i just made what they asked me to.

The bed reminds me of the begining scene of 28 Days Later when the guy woke up in the hospitol, keep up the good work.

The beds wheels are a bit funky. The plane the just sticks out is what I am referring to.

That looks like the brake, just at a weird angle.

Great stuff. Love the character model!

Couple of tiny crits if you don't mind :)

Atleast from this angle it looks like his ear is a bit too high up. Also you might want to clean up the hard edge under his ear. <- nitpicking really :p

The bed model is nice too but texture work could be better. Especially the bump map doesn't feel right. Finds some good photo refs, make a proper bump & spec maps and it will look 10x better.

the texture is poor as i couldnt find any reference and i wasnt going to ask a hospital if i could take pictures so i had to paint it in photoshop.

the bump mapping is crazy in this iteration, party becasue of maxes super contrasty lighting in the viewports.. i have no idea how to do nice shiny renders with multiple lights and stuff. It does have a specular map though.

i wanted to use this custom HLSL shader thingy but i don't think it would work with source, at least i don't know how.

here is the latest ones

i managed to port it into CSS but without normals or... wheels

Looks pretty good. Though the texture really does need work. The bed legs and frame seem a little white and dont really go good along with the gray of the rails. Perhaps that is just me being picky, but maybe adding detail in the form of scratches or peeling paint may help. Right now it just doesnt look "real" enough.

im going to totally redo the texture in a higher resolution, that one is 512x512, im gonna try 1024x1024 as the model is quite big.

Well, if it's any consolation, I applaud you for making a thread that doesn't include any "super kewl gunz". I, myself am still trying to plow my way through the Joan of Arc tutorial (it's taken me a year so far, and I'm still only half way done :-? ), so I can really appreciate the work that goes into a character model/texture.

Keep it up!

Heh, that guy gonna be part of the Summer-time Norwegian militia? Meeeeeettaaaallll!! Roooar! :p

Good models though man, need stuff like this for mappers to use cos the whole cloned buildings and statics thing gets a little boring.

Quick update.

We've got Ben mathis (if you model you've probably heard of him) over for a week at our uni and he gave me some pointers on how to improve my modelling/texturing so expect a better version soon.
Were also entering this competition thing where we have to make our own smash bros character thats 5000 polies.

http://www.poopinmymouth.com < makes all the best tutorials.

Good job on the models, and good link. :D

(maybe you should consider making some super kewl gunz to get people looking more :razz :)

i dunno man i'd find it boring, anyone can model stuff like that, its really hard to do organic stuff and its funner too!
