The MG tower structure is in alot of standard BF2 maps. Can this be made a building object that the commander can deploy for engineers to construct? Something like an observation post would be interesting. Maybe it can be justified by taking a longer time to build? It Would make an excellent addition to well established fortified bases built on maps such as insurgency. Plus, it would be nice to have some sort of MG nest.

Somewhat your suggestion is alot like a previous one that's been active for the last couple of days, perhaps you should/could continue your suggestion(s) about Commander MG's there?
