Search on free 3D models and you're bound to find a couple of meshes to play with (for example http://www.3dcafe.com/ in the free stuff section). Most are pretty basic though.

But of course you need to unwrap them first (if you want to feel needed in the modding world, learn to unwrap!!!), which is the most bothersome part... Slapping on some paint is easy ;)

Ok so what are you suppose use to open the meshes with? im stupid i know :D

Depends what type of mesh it is.

For example, with Maya it's .mb (Maya Binary) and with 3D Studio Max (And Gmax at times) it's .3ds

Hope this helps.

Import it into a 3D editor (like GMax which supports BF2 tools). Then you just need to unwrap it and texture it.

I believe if your looking for a model to practice skinning on, Fort or one of the Devs have test models they had out to potential dev's im sure theyd be glad to let you take a shot at one of them.
