Modding the mods

I added "littlebird" heli to single player maps with bots, it seems to work fine, the bot's get in and fly it, so can I, however when I get into a combat situation with bots onboard I get a CTD.

I know it wasn't really designed for SP, but it makes an awsome addition to the game when no MP games are on, not to mention good practice.

I was hoping perhaps someone here could point me in the right direction for something I may have missed?

I also added the apache and Hind from SF to PRMM single player maps, again it works great, but I get a very similar problem CTD if I switch seats with a bot.

Perhaps there is a critical file I have overlooked AI or hud?

any help appreciated.

Its probably the AI for the bots that is missing something... Or a reason why DICE scrapped such SP maps.

You could be right, it's a shame though because PRMM makes SP actually worth playing again.. I find it hard to even touch BF2 vanilla anymore, and wouldn't bother with SP.

I think I may have found the bug for littlebird, the hud does not display correctly all the time, lan or SP, I noticed I got no CTD when the seating positions were not displayed at all.

was this heli supposed to have a little pic of the seating positions like all the other vehicals do? is it a pic of a small heli with white squares for empty slots?

anyone?

Interesting. How did you add a little bird into SP that would be fun. How do I go about doing this? Do you need a extra file or something.

You can pretty much add any object anywhere by simply changing the objects.con in server.zip (sp) for the map you want to alter.

you'll need the names of the objects and the positions etc..

I found it best to make another mod folder to experiment in, that way you don't mess up the original PRMM.

It's far to complicated to explain step by step, but I could upload an altered map file if people are keen.

The best way to start is to download coop4.0 or similar.. it already contains a 32 player karkand map with bots, extra flags, 4X blackhawks and no tanks etc..

it is easy to replace a blackhawk for a lilbird, or add another one.

I don't have any links to tutorials though.

This is sort of on topic: I always wanted to tweak the maps around a bit, but everytime i load an existing map... it doesnt work and says init.con for the level wasn't found... wtf?

Extract the zip files first (and remove the zips). This of course assume you modify a copy of the map, heh. When you then make the map, you only have to include the server.zip in a mod dir. Sadly I havent found a way to make a new name.

A while ago I tried making a map in a directory called zw_thunder (Zatar tank battle), but was unable to link Zatar to it. Having a 80mb downloadable for just a modification is unacceptable for me.
