UK vs. Russians?

I've been thinking of a winter map matching the UK against the Russians somewhere in the taiga northeast of St. Petersburg. This brings about several problems I can think of:
1) Would both teams be hard-coded as Team 1, preventing them from fighting each other (like UK vs. US, though other reasons stand in the way of that matchup)?
2) Would the creation of a boreal Siberian landscape even be possible with the BF2 engine as it stands now, and would the work involved in priming the engine for such a map be unreasonably difficult given the low priority of the project?
3) Is there really suitable camouflage for a snowy forest, and would the contrast of colors nullify any advantage from camouflage?
4) Will the Russians finally scrap the AKs of the Cold War in PR and "upgrade" to fit the times, like the MEC?
5) How much modeling and coding would it take to modernize Russian technology from BF2 to PR's realism standards, if necessary?

1. I believe the whole Team 1 Team 2 problem has been resolved, and now any faction can fight any faction without any issues.
2. Why wouldn't it? Only problem is you'd be putting a lot of work into making new textures, sounds, statics etc.
3. Like number 2, you'd have to create a new skin to represent snow camouflage.
4. What would they upgrade too? The AK-74M is fine, and the MEC's G3 isn't any newer.
5. Are you aware of the Russian Forces community project?

After posting, I noticed that the Russians aren't going to be added by the PR devs - still, can't we do something, anything, in Siberia, even against Rebels?

Not from what I know. The devs simply aren't doing any of the work. People like you and I with modding skills are creating all the content which will later be added into the mod. From what I've been reading the Russians may be in the mod for .7

Still waiting for the russkies vs chechens. The grittiness should be fcuking maxed. I would so play that 24/7.

If you want to make it go ahead.

Problem has been resolved. They can fight.

Well, it would be difficult as you would need reskinned objects. But as long as you pretend it hasn't snowed in a while you'll be fine.

The UK I don't think has winter camo. The Russian vehicles wouldn't have winter camo, but I am half done winter uniform camo for the Russians.

LOL.
The Russians will be using the AK-74M introduced in
1991. Compare with the G3 the MEC use introduced in
1958.

For more info look in the Russian Forces community project forum. If you want to say something, don't make a new thread, but post in a the 'РОССИЯ' thread.

Well if you have a map idea,I think it is best if you give the BF2Editor a go.The Dev's are overloaded as it is,so if you can make a map go for it!

I would have just downloaded the map editor and consulted some of the PR mappers for advice, but I'm too lazy to make an XP partition (running Vista Home Premium) and install everything again.
As for the AK's being too modern to be replaced, what other major arms companies are there? I know the MEC was given HK weaponry just for the sake of having an HK-only army, but what else could we give the Russians besides the Kalashnikov series?
