IF you can animate, then we can get this in the mod as soon as your done ;)

I agree of course, and many things in PR have reload bars (grenades, and now field dressings, etc) to simulate taking these items from a pouch, vest, taking off safties, etc.

Weapons NEED an animation though, or it will look and feel really crappy. And youll need to do animation for the following:

1st person draw while standing
1st person draw while crouching
1st person draw while prone

3rd person draw while standing
3rd person draw while crouching
3rd person draw while prone

once all that done and everything lines up ok then were good :) now just need to do that to:

M16A4 series
QBZ95 series
G3A3 series
L85 series
AK47 series
all the other weapons

and were golden :)

I don't suppose you can just slow the animations down to give the increased time?

Actually it takes just as long to change grenades as it would a weapon. Mind you this is from a US Army Infantryman's perspective, but I'm guessing most other units around the world use a similar technique.

First, your anti-personnel grenades ("frags") are carried up front of your web gear, along the front of your belt near the buckle/fastener. This keeps them easily-accessible and you always know they are secure. Grenades are carried with the spoon facing in and the pull-ring secured inside the pouch.

Special-application grenades such as smoke, oc/cs, inciendary, etc. are not carried in your LBV, but are normally carried in a rucksack. If you are stripping your gear and feel you might need it, you toss it in a butt-pack. You can't just clip a frag grenade back on your pocket and fish out a smoke. You need to properly (and safely) secure the frag back in its pouch, and then dig out the other grenade from your ***-area. It takes time.

Do it any other way, and you'll end up without a limb. Or worse.

So right, but as Fuzz pointed out, that's a buttload of work.

Just slowing down the animations would just make it look like you're taking your weapon out in slo-mo, while everything else is moving real time. If it is possible, it would still be pretty terrible.

yeah...but you can only slow them down a tiny bit or they will look really weird

maybe make the first person and third person animation pause when your hand is reaching for the mag?

The reload times are fine, according to mil advisors.
Only thing that would have to be slowed down a bit is the changing of equipment, but on the other hand, people with RL experience say that, for example, the drawing times of grenades is fine because the rifle has a sling.

Please try to be a bit more polite to me and the other moderators. Also, like other people pointed out: this would be a huge amount of work, and due to a lack of animators, I'm afraid that some other other things probably have a higher priority.

I've been working on something, I have been kidnapping animators worldwide and locking them up in my basement.... maybe I will send you a few...

The suggestion is plausible but would take a lot of work, and I always have heard your short on animators ( I'm worthless at anything btw )

Sounds like when they start finding some more people, or people find them... maybe a 1.0+ PR thing to add some fluff to the game

The none-developer bank of PR slaves is growing, so it seems like more content will be added faster, but unfortunately amongst the slaves there don't seem to be many/any animators, none I've seen anyway.

Looking back on your suggestions throughout time, one can only imagine why people might say that...

Currently, I am able to pull my drawn pistol back in its holster, get my M16 rifle out of no-where(:roll :) and fire it in as little as 1.2 seconds. I do not know if ordinary soldiers on the field can do this but for some reason, I CAN DO IT.

Please DEVS, longer drawing times will make people think before they decide to take that grenade out out their belt and spam it like hell. If it is hardcoded *cough*, please tell me so, as I dunno jack about the BF2 engine. Times should be shorter if say, you switch from one grenade to the other (smoke for example), seeing as it easy to place it back in the belt, and pick the grenade in the holder next to it.

- Post your thoughts.
Out on patrol and raids we always have our weapons at the low ready. With a 3-point sling its constantly strapped across our chest with the buttstock near our shoulders for rapid placement. With proper training and practice the time between seeing a target and getting your weapon up, while standing, is almost non-existent.

um, how about NOT doing any animation ****, and just adding like a 3 second pause or something to taking out whatever item you selected?

kenwayy he means switching items... like for example pulling out a knife, smoke grenade, frag grenade, etc

its not a bad idea... switching items should not be instant... but animating the switching of popular items (dressings, frags, smokes) would be ideal
