PR I find has got to be the laggyest game iv ever played for me it is but supposedly not for other people. IV got a pentium 3.00Ghz NVIDIA 6800 and a 1.00GB of ram so im wondering Why it's so laggy and pooh bear... IS it punk buster slowing down the game cos this game really should run really well and smooth on my computer but it does not.
Can I have help getting this to run smooth and I refuse to speed $ on getting new components for a mod of a game that been out for years and should not need new toys it ridiculous. And any I don’t want to get the new video card because it might not work increase speed for my computer because the computer’s power supply exploded a while back and It supposedly did no damage to the computer but im not sure any more well not after PR.

well 1gb ram is not really going to cut it for pr, try to get 2gb ram.

I have a 6800GS, 2gigs of ram and a 2.0ghz processor, runs on all medium with 70fps.
You bought yours right? when I built mine, I went overkill on ram (3yr ago) so I could load up faster and get the cobra, but it is also the #1 most important hardware for PR.

PR needs more memory is why.
I'm around the same spec as you (3.2 athlon,1 gb memory,7800gs)and I get a bit of lag early in a map or when things are getting concentrated around me.Internet lag is the worst culprit though.
I tried with 1.5 gig of memory and it helped a bit but I'm looking at getting a 2 gb kit as soon as so I can run dual channel.

AMD cpu Rhys.
You've got Hyperthreading and I've got dual channel memory ability if I fit matched pairs correctly. So I can run my OCZ 2.2.2.5 sticks in dual channel but if I put another 512 stick in I go back to single channel.I could upgrade it with a 1gb OCZ module to give me 2gb total dual channel. All it takes is money.

Atm, ram is not that extremely expensive, so I would advice you to get an extra gig of it.

Same problem there, I've got 2x512 Mo twinx PC3200 (O/C from 400Mhz to 460 timing 2.5-3-3-5 ; 1T

) and still laggy the first 2-3 minutes of each map.
I'm currently looking for 2*1Go PC4000 ram to O/C but DDR 1 is now fuck@@@ expensive. ebay is my friend

.

You simply need 2gig RAM. Without them play laggy or forget it!

pc3200 ddr ram is still expensive in the UK. Twice as much as PC6400 ddr2 costs for some reason or other.
Vanilla is highly optimised for players pc's, in that it doesn't include too many interesting features on the maps. With PR, the map makers have gone for a higher level of pc build, since so many player maintain their own machines and can source parts cheaper than buying off the shelf and fit them themselves.
There is a fine line though that the map makers are trying to work within. It's a huge balancing act.
Is your P4 3.00ghz cpu only running at the slower speed? I'm not sure if it is the 3.2ghz and upwards that runs faster, but then 2x1gig sticks of the fastest DDR ram your machine can fit is a good idea. The nvidia 6800 was good for Doom, but not modern gaming as such, so you will have to turn your resolution and graphics settings down to cope.
If you built yourself, heres hoping your power supply was good enough and it isn't failing over time and that you can replace yourself. A lot of problems occur there.
But admittedly there have been problems with PB and ABR lagging servers, kicking players and causing merry hell.

ISP and BT exchange contention are another problem in the UK.At busy times I can get a bit laggy and bounce around all over the place.
I think I'll go shopping for a stick of RAM.No way is a major machine upgrade on the cards. But PR v.6 is just about playable with patience and great fun if you get in a good squad.

another gig of ram is the prob dude. its not expensive. PR has huge mapps & just needs more ram & at the lest it will make your other progs run better. even vanilla.
vanilla sucks so bad if you do get more ram i doubt you ever go back to it anyway... unless you dont like teamwork.
OH & make sure your ping is low , & check others ping in the server it does matter.

Little bit of advice here before you go off buying "another stick of ram"
You might notice that buying a pair of 1 gig sticks is a few pounds more expensive than buying them individually.
This is because they test them or pairing before selling them as a "tested kit"
I installed a machine a couple of months ago that required me to take 6 sticks of 512meg corsair value ram pc3200 ddr (to fill 4 slots) and try something like 12 different combinations before I found which pair, in which slots, worked together nicely.
It might be suggested here for gaming purposes that you buy a pair of 1 gig sticks of ram you have researched to work in your current motherboard, in dual channel, at full speed. Then flog what you have already got on ebay.

If it is Hamgyong then it might be that little problem with Nvidia cards and grass.

if ya can afford it i'd go more, the more ram the less is page file'd and ram is definatly faster than the page file

I'm doing fine with 1 gig of ram with a 7900GT Oc'ed. Everything Maxed but texture on meduim. Loading about 15-20 seconds. With 2 gigs, I'll definitely be able to get that texture on high. But to me, I see no difference between medium and high so i wont waste the money.
