This morning I woke up straight away BANG, a idea came to my idea.
Alright here it is what if you where to change the SPEED of the Vechiles such as thew M1A2 Abrams because you dont just ride into battle like a bullet, say for instance if your attacking a urbanised area your not going to go rushing in like crazy speed such as EA has made them right so try and make different speeds aye?

lol, this guy can't get a breake (jk). But yea, vehicle speeds need to be implemented.

The problem is that BF doesnt support multiple fixed speeds. Ie you'll either have a slow engine or a fast engine and throttle in between... If you want slow speed, you simply tap the key.

Well, the speeds are a lot better in the new version. We had an internal version where the Abrams took about 10 seconds to reach top speed, but when it did, nothing slowed it down! lol
I think at the moment, the over-all vehicle speeds are ok. The fastest should be the FAV, followed by the DPV's, then Vodnik/Humvee, etc. One possible addition I think would make a difference is the acceleration. Slow the MBT's down significantly, the APC's a bit as well. From there it's a matter of testing and balance as to match the in-game vehicles to their real-life counterparts.

Actually, this has been suggested in the Dev forums and we are looking into it. We may give the vehicles an "infantry speed" so that they can move as fast as infantry, making vehicles more integrated into squad teamplay. These vehicles will also have an infinite sprint, for long distance rolling at high speed!

Im sure there is a way to allow for pre set speeds or atleast a way to break up the speeds. I can do it in jet/helos with my digital throttle so there must be a way to code it so that holding a button for a long enough time will increase the throtle and hold it at that speed.

I think this is a very cool idea, and gets my vote. It would mean that the tanks won't out distance the infantry in urban maps, and also effectively gives it a two speed gearbox.
