Land Mine TK, Who is realy at fault?

here is an issue that might make for an interesting debate. i see this often enough on almost any server that i play on. you have a player carrying a full APC toward a hot zone. The APC runs over a clearly marked Friendly landmine. is it the player that laid the mine that should be credited with the 6 tks, or should the poor driver that did not heed the big red skull and crossbones in the middle of the road be punished for his lack of "Due Care" for his passengers or his valueable assest that he totaly disrgarded as he drove like a nut to a fire fight.
thoughts.

Driver, it is his/her responsibility to keep an eye out for hazards in the road.

Drivers fault in most cases, if the mine is placed stupidly under a friendly tank ect then mine layers but there is now way to have clear cut answer

This happens a lot on the Al Basrah map. The insurgents take the VCP flag and the only way to protect it from the APC's coming is to lay mines at the entrances. Then somebody on the insurgent team tries to bring a vehicle in or out of VCP and runs right over the mines. Then you get punished for the TK. So,yes, this is an interesting debate question.

Actually, the IEDs should NOT TK, how the heck are we supposed to use the proximity IEDs and suicide cars at the same time as Insurgent, if the car runs over an IED and both threats instantly disappear for the British.

i too think the driver is at fault. i mean unless the mines were placed in a base, the driver should be aware of all mines. that mine could have been some enemy mine. they all look the same and its no differnece, 6 guys just lost their lives and a country just lost $900,000 for the APC, and some $600,000 more for the soldiers' life insurance.

Driver.
And they ought to get a life ban for doing it.Then maybe I won't get as many TK's when playing as engineer.

My opinion:
The driver has to watch out for hazards how already mentioned. So punish the driver for killing all the other ppl in his vehicle by driving on a mine with negative score. If he is driving alone, nothing happens. No negative score, only death.
So for each "teamkilled" soldier in his vehicle...(finally it's his fault when he drives nutty)...5 Points negative score. Or somethin like that!
Would be fair because the mine layer is in most cases innocent.
Cheers!

It's usually a driver's fault - they are usually just not paying enough attention.
As Princess already said, Al Basrah is the best place for mine TK's. You can see here how ignorant the drivers are. Even if you type ******************MINES SOUTH EXIT OF VCP!!!!!!!!!! to teamchat, there's still a big possibility that some freak will just kill himself there.
Once I was even standing in front of a car, shouting "NO WAY!", shooting on the mine, just to see how the car blows up and I get 3 TK's plus a suicide. No need to mention that my spawntime was very unpleasant.
I said in a different thread, their fault (but your teamkill).
I think the mine TK should be removed completely.
I have never yet seen an intentional mine TK.

has the driver of the vehicle paid his insurance recently?
Also, did the mine hit from the rear or the front?
Was the driver intoxicated?
Was the driver of the vehicle not the owner of the vehicle?
Was the registration up to date...?
Not enough information supplied for a definite answer.

I think there's something wrong with PR distribution system.
It seems to me that almost all PR drivers are drunk, yet I did not receive any alcohol at all !

Usually It's drivers fault, nothing left to say

I think noone should get a teamkill punishment if someone drives over a friendly mine, but the driver should get the suicide punishment. So noone will be kicked for negative score (even if its the drivers fault, he shouldnt be kicked, its still just a game and sometimes you are under fire and just dont pay attention, thats not worth getting kicked).

Couldn't we just open a frikkin poll so everyone can vote what he thinks, the DEVs will include the majority's opinion into 0.7 and everything will be good? xD
Instead of reading 2000 posts...
