shrapnel

could project reality have shrapnel for bombs and things like that ? something like the cluster bomb that satnav made but instead it would emit high speed projectiles that dont explode.

I agree, explosions right now are concusive it looks like. A shrapnel explosion would be a whole lot suitable. Get hit by a shrapnel piece you start to bleed.

Seems like something that would add a bit of lag to an already stressed engine.

Well concerning bombs... yes they need to have more explosive force to kill infantry its a bomb ffs.

*Warning idiot who knows nothing about the engine response*

Just strap on a dozen grenade explosions to a bomb lol..

Isn't the blast damage radius there to simulate this? Why do you need to see the shrapnel. On the other hand though it would give you a small change to survive if you're lucky enough and don't get hit by one, unlike the current one that's (afaik) basically a solid round "wall" of shrapnels with no gaps.

well right now satnav's bomb emits something like 200 bomblets that fall to the ground and that could take some time, so i think that if a bomb had a emitter that would emit about 200 projectiles at very high speed and the projectiles would only last for 0.1 the lag should not be big. right now the balst radius is not very big i think it is like 25m or something like that so you could stand 20m away and nothing would happen to you, if this was in game sure you could stand 20m away but you could get hit by some shrapnel and die.

That would be quite neat, but I think we need a really coders opinion at this point. It seems quite possible, having seen the cluster bomb, but it is more work for the dev team, and they have plenty on their plate.

a must have feature in this mod IMO it would make it soo much more realistic and it would make hiding behind a tree or something a chance to survive a grenade blast. I dont see it causing any lag issues because those shrapnels only really have to behave like bullets from a gun and in its current state there is already like hundreds of rounds being fired in the game at once so i dont think lag would be an issue. I mean i guess if you actually modeled the pieces of shrapenl it would but that would be kinda pointless cause they are moving so fast you cant see them anyway.
