Ejector Seats ~ Solving the Shute Probs ;)

ok this was somthing i was hopeing would be in BF2 before it came out, but it still used the magic old system that u just hop out somhow and pull a shute

What i think would be really cool, realistic and would solve the shute prob for fighter pilots is that you shuve a Ejector Seat into jets, maby choppers if they have them too but im not so sure about that.

Say you got a missle lock or your plane was on fire and you wanted to bail out, you couldnt hit "E" cos i suggest you deves somhow code it so you cant bail out of a plane/chopper when its off the ground
So they would have to hit "9" and if they hit that button the cockpit would come apart and out would fly the pilot in his Ejector Seat. Then he can parshute down to earth safly to be met by a enemy tank :-P

any ways what do you think

choppers don't usually have ejector seats only a few atack choppers have them because you have to discard th blades and so iff you leap out of a black hawk as it is crashing you just get sliced and diced.

its a good idea for planes though

I don't know what heli's have the ejector seats but the ones that do the rotors normally are blown off (small explosive charges i think) and then the ejector seat activates.

I've also heard of ejector seats in helicopters that eject sideways instead of upwards.

How do they eject sideways?

just the same as they eject upwards, the doors are blown off and you eject.

Apparently the Mi-28 have ejector seats as well as the Ka-50 and the Ka-52, Explosive bolts are used to jettison the rotor blades.

I don't know of any helicopters that actually have horizontal ejector seats but they do seam to exist although i doubt there are many since there are not many helicopter with ejector seats in the first place.

The Russians have the best ejector seats in the world. Due to the fact that as there use to be a communist contrie they could test there ejector seats on real ppl which they could reandomly choose out of the population. Then if the exsplosion that blew off the cockpit window blew the guys head up at the same time they new not to use so much exsplocives next time

leanr somthing every day :-P

yeap many choppers have E seats. watch James Bond, Goldeneye and see it for yourself! thats a euroC tiger. i beleive the Commanche has an ejection system also.

there have been some talk of as someone said, sideways ejection, and even downward projection where the whole underside of the cocpit it blown off as a unit and the seats get blown down. thats a bit far fetched though. top ejection is simple enough all that has to be donw is the rotors detatched, they will fly off anyway seeing as they have no 1/2 tonne block of metal to keep in the air.

I personally have been trying to think of even the basics of how to actually make an ejector seat work in bf2 for 2 years now. I can't figure it out.

I don't think its possible. best to just not allow bailing at high altitudes, or just use normal chutes.

and regarding comments in this thread, as far as i know, no helicopter that is gonna be in PR has ejector seats, commanche was cancelled, eurocopter isnt planned. havok.... might have ejector seats, but im not sure.

i dont think the havoc does, getting one set of blades off is hard, getting 2 sets off it dangerous lol.

Just wondering, why exactly was the comanche cancelled?
I thought it was because the US felt they didnt need a sthelth heli for current conflicts, but i dont know much abouit it

i believe it was canceled because of that. stealth helis are useless. the apache was doing so well that they didnt see the need to develop the commanche.

It wasnt meant to replace the apache, it was meant to replace the KIOWA.

well whatever it was going to replace, it wasnt woth sppending billions on it. who knows, i dont concentrate on US defence issues as much as UK. im sure theres an article knocking about the web somewhere.

Im sure it really isnt that hard, with abit of animation and extra modeling it could be done i would think. Have a 2nd wreck model for when the ejector seat goes which has a whole for where the ejector seat was, then it spawns in a new model of just the seat with the player in it, this would fly up and then would activate the shute

yeahit would have been cool. who knows, yanks might get bored and want to waste some millions on pointless defence issues
