Link the assets on a map to the player population.

Is it possible to link the assets on a map to the player population.

i.e. the more players the more APCs, Tanks and Jeeps and visa versa.

So for example.. Ejod with less than 10 players on each side would see maybe one APC each. As numbers increase so do the assets.

I think this would help gameplay greatly on servers with lower populations.

What do you think? Can it be done and should it be done??

(i searched, but could not find this discussed b4)

I Don't think so, unless it's an admin/server controlled script.

i remember discussing this before and it "was" one of the original features that bf2 "was" supposed to have...

i think it was called dynamic battlefields or something to that effect...

i dont know that we ever really found a way to do it..BUT it sound very doable..

It does, but that system was created from scratch by the team, not sure as to how easy/hard it would be to change the default BF2 system to do this.

well its more we would first have to shift the entier spawn system over to work on python, that in itself is tricky and very time consuming, then from there i think that you then have to code in this extra bit, then the only way I see being able to do your idea well would be to code in what assets you would want for each set amount of players etc, for every map and every map game mode and every map size, soo its alot of work where servers can in the first place, just set the right size of map for the players on the server thou we all know how much 64p servers love running 16p maps like street....

i take it it would take some coding then, i'm sure time is better spent on other stuff.

if half your team left it wouldn't mean half the assets would suddenly leave with them it would mean that it takes twice as long for any thing to respawn again

Stuff disappearing would be stupid, why would the developers even think of that?

The only problem will be for clan trainings and such, we aren't allowed to mess with the code anymore right? Can't remember if there are some exceptions.

You could, but they probably own an angry bear who will come and buttrape you if you try.

Its a pretty cool idea, and I do remember it being an original selling point of BF2. Still, the current system works. I'd rather see the devs work on other gameplay stuff than this.

I wasn't taking about your suggestion, just something someone said about it who did what you just said.
