Realistic Jet Reload

ALLLL credit goes to Soulja for this one(
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/engine ... 31916.html)
I wanna make another thread for it. In short here's the idea.
How about having it so that in order to rearm the jets you need to have a rearming truck nearby (maybe something different to standard ammo/ repair trucks)
And make it so you require an engineer to stay by to rearm your jet/helicopter.
This would help effectively stop lonewolfing in jets, forcing ground and air crews to work together or lose the ability to give/recieve air support.
It would also result in more realistic airfield designs, with jets landing lots, more multiple runways wouldnt be a bad idea and it would give a use to having a aircraft specific ammo truckdriving around the main
thoughts fellows?

we have 32players on a team, we have enough problems with getting enough players on the battlefiled than having lots of ppl running around air bases with trucks crashing into jets and pushing them off the runway trying to rearm them.
as for realistic airfiled designs, keep your eyes on the Dev Journal

Well it would be realistic but what about the poor engineer who had to be there for you?
It is not good for game-play either. There are no such things as ground crews in this game so you can't really say it forces interaction between groudn and air crews.
Thoughts: Just make it so that you have to land to re-arm. Whether your in a heli or jet.
FLY BY RE-ARM. EVERY BOMB LOAD COUNTS

I'll gladly be the engineer supporting the jets
Id hop straight into my jeep and be running back to help him out if I was engineer support.
It could also add flexibility to the base rape idea, with engineers regularly returning to rearm jets, the AAA could be more effectively manned during reloads.
After all how is this any different to the engineers running around building things for the CO? I think the engineers jobs should be focusing more on mine laying/clearing, vehicle repair, asset construction, Demolitions and of course jet rearming

mainly now we have kamikazee engineers chasing tanks with C4...

Well may be a Supply truck whit Aircraft munitions and missile exclusively, and an other one whit 25MM, Sabot and HEAP round in it will give up more realist... ( may be im wrong and in real life supply carry every type of ammo but i doubt...)

A load of Aim-9 missles and sidewinders wont be very useful in the middle of a battlefield

Wouden't this get more people at the Airfield, opposite to less (Which is better) I don't want to see something added to the already 4 Sqauds camping the Airfield at Kashan.

This isn't an airplane sim, its a combined arms game. If we double the number of people it requires to use jets, it means that there will be that much less combat. And we want combat.

All I'm saying is its an extra job for an engineer squad who dont contribute so much to infantry.
If not this there needs to be some sort of link established between air and ground troops to stop lonewolfing in jets and the fly by reload is just daft, at least make the bugger land

Well, jets are 'lone wolfs' since they are operated by one player. And how one engy doesn't add anything to combat and thereby should camp at the airstrip with his truck forever? Even if he could man the AA, the CAS always rape the landing jet/newly spawned jet too fast for anyone to react.
What I'd really like to see, is automated AA defenses on maps w/ airstrips, so we can actually prevent base rape without having 10 people on AA guns all round being bored.
Possible to code?

auto AA sounds cool, pluuus the engineer wouldnt have to sit there camping the airstrip with a truck
jeez its like someone mentioning CO assets and everyone saying "theres no point engineers will be running around digging holes all the time"
The point is when I say lonewolfing. What I mean is that pilots play one game whiles infantry play another, tanks require engineers for repairs, and in the field ammo. so why shouldnt jets at least rely on the ground crews in some way? right now people camp the airstrip doing nothing useful waiting for jets. Once jets come, theyre off in the air and thats it until they get shot down, every now n then you may see a friendly as ou shoot with AA.
But on the whole pilots play PR Flight sim while every one else is in combat, lets tie the two together

PLying FH2 seems theyve had this thought. gotta land and turn around on the runway to reload. Works really well

That is already ingame...

What are you saying, that its already in game in FH2? Because there's only one FH2 and its always been in there, so it would be hard not to be in game.
Or do you mean that If I land the jet I can reload it while Im on the ground? Well obviously I can do that but whats the point when all you have to do is fly slowly over the runway to magically float the weapons up to your plane in mid air.
I mean have to land fully, taxi over to a bomb trolley or summin, reload taxi back out to the runway and take off.
Big benefits from increasing jet reload, pilots communicate more because each bomb load matters more and there isnt so much rape going on all the time because the jets dont have a constant stream of ammo.
And like I say, on Kashan you have some people who just sit and wait to play PR flight sim on their own detatched from the team, while others play infantry.

That's basically it right there.
And I would much rather have that engineer squad doing something off of the airfield such as attackin the enemy or supporting a defense or helping the commander out rather than just camping the airfield.
I can maybe see a commander asset that can be blown up such as a fuel truck or something, but besides that, a truck refueling is already assumed.

Go play ArmA Cain
Maybe a requestable kit (limit of 2?) called maybe ...
Base Engy ?
AAS (Aircraft Armament Supplier) ?
Kit contains standard loadout.
If the DEVS have time, patience etc. to create a truck in similar style to the CO truck, but with say a few barrels and a bomb/missle on the back for reloading AIRCRAFT ONLY. The persons with this kit ONLY can drive the armament truck. (and if possible, give it a deadzone of the battlefield, apart from the base ...)
And the HMMWV supplys ammo to troops ...
*rests brain*
Ja oder nein ?

I dunno having a kit thats only any good at base seems... real but hmmm

As Rhino said, I don't think that forcing a player to remain at base in order to rearm aircraft is at all positive for the gameplay of PR. It reduces the Project and focuses too much on the Reality.

I wish they would add another supply truck for the aircraft that rearms them quickly because as I said I already do this on Kashan sometimes to keep the aircraft on the ground for shorter periods of time by helping rearm and repair.
