As you HEAR, when a bullit smashes into the wall you hear a verry loud sound (i dunno how to call)..
but in combat you hear that sound verry verry much :)

Just a quik thought ;)

Agreed for example with the AA and the HE rounds you can hear the distant pop as they hit their target, but this soon fades into the distance, Firstly that should echo throughout the mountains and Secondly hes right the 50 cals and such should have a sorta bullet impact sound you can hear :P

What the hell does he pull when he ***** it? It just looks like he's miming the action into thin air.

they might be like sabot rounds hitting the wall and then exploding

It's very thin element but you can't see it well because of videos low resolution.

Back to topic, my theory:
The sound that you hear is not the sound of a bullet smashing the wall. It's the echo of the gun fire. Video camera (and its microphone) stands ~200m from the target and ~5m behind the machinegun, in this conditions it's almost impossible to record the sound of a bullet hitting the wall.

Not much echo in the desert, sound needs something to reflect off.

I guess it could be an echo, but I'd put my money on it being impact sound, firstly because it is perfectly synced with the impacts, also he is sending chunks of metal through a brick wall, its gonna make a noise!

I think PR has pretty good weapon sound modelling already. It has the bang crack and impact that so many mods struggle with, but I agree some more impact sounds, linked to material and calibre would be nice.

I read somewhere that they had plans to make the 50 cal penetrate walls and buildings.....this would be the perfect sound to accompany that.

In fact I might just knock that sound up quickly. I'll post when its done :)

Well, actually It's not an open desert, ther is a lot of things on it that can refelect the sound (targets, etc.) plus there can be buildings or other high objects behind the camera that are not shown in this video (but I can't prove it).
However this picture was taken from highier level than the ground level, so there may be some building or at least watchtower.

BTW it's your first post, welcome to the forum ;)

first: as you mostly hear in combat movies on liveleak and such. you hear that ''echo'' or anything always when you hear shots from distances,

second: having that sounds on 50.cals will let the enemie think twice :)
