So many people don't know how to play Basrah...

Jesus, it's so annoying. Most of time when I'm on a team no one either A)Defends the VCP B) Attacks it, depending in which team I'm on. And me constantly urging people to hold VCP because it's essentially the only way for victory for both sides always gets ignored or some moron goes
"But we have to defend the caches!?!?!?!?"
What's most annoying is that people refuse to leave the shitty squads they join. I was brit just now and someone made a VCP squad, ok I join, no one is really using teamwork, no one is using VOIP, two of the members get APC's and go god knows where. So I make a VCP Voip squad and after a minute of urging people to help out or join the squad, the VCP gets rushed by a bunch of insurgents. GG, disconnect.

cue: go commander.
when I feel we've got no chance without organisation, I offer up my tactical/management skillz to the altar of leadership..

There usually already is a cmdr dropping bunkers & sandbags all over the airport...

bunkers/fbs spawn tickets right?
so having them nice and safe at airport does serve a purpose.

Yes right now it is imperative that you defend VCP, but as insurgent i usually find myself the one asking people to defend those damn caches, i dont know about you but i like winning a game the way it was meant to be played, not because i bleed out the other team.

While I completely agree, defending the caches is often a losing strategy for the insurgents. If you get one or two British squads who are just roaming the map, they will have time (if there's no bleed) to stumble upon enough hidden caches to win the round. That is the most realistic way for the Brits to play, and it's also nearly impossible to stop. As much as I hate to say it, 32 people is not enough to defend an entire city from a stealthily infiltrating enemy. For now, insurgents rush VCP because people like to win, and it's the easiest way to do so on this map.
That being said, Basrah is one of my favorite maps when it comes up on the server I frequent. The reason is that the devs found a way to balance unbalanced warfare, and it's fun if both teams are actually working as teams. I also enjoy Helmand, but I wish the teams could be stacked by the server so that the insurgents had something like a 4:3 numbers advantage, but I digress...

Yes caches should be defended, but not by the whole team. They have at least an 2+hours worth of tickets and they'll get all the caches in that amount of time regardless of the amount of insurgents they encounter.
It do think the amount the Brits bleed when VCP is held by insurgents should be lessened though but the bleed on Brit tickets when they control VCP should be increased. They should not get 3 hours to find all the caches...1 max.

Was finally having a great round on Basrah, a whole squad defending the VCP. My pc freezes for some random reason, I restart and it puts me on insurgents. Figures. Sigh...stupid god damn bf2 piece of **** engine...

unrealalex, I always defend caches and set up ambushes. I have no interest in rushing the VCP as insurgent. I couldn't care less about winning an online computer game, especially pubbing. I'm much more interested in having a good time. To me that means playing like an actual insurgent.
Don't think you're so much better than everybody else on a server just because their interests are not aligned with your own.

Then the insurgents would be screwed unless an automatic bleed began at the beginning of the round. As someone else said, it is impossible to stop the British from getting the caches if they are actually looking for them. When the Insurgents get the VCP, not only do they get a forward operating base and firebase, but they also put time on their side and time away from the British to get the caches.

I was in vent mode sorry

It's fairly easy for Brits to win on Basrah, like I said, they have enough time to find and destroy all the caches even if you have a squad camping out each one...that's why attacking the VCP is essential, it's a crucial obstacle in the British mission to destroy the caches. By at least having one squad form some kind of an attack on the VCP, you're doing far more good for the team (in terms for winning and defending the caches), than someone who is camping with 3 rpgs...
The other day I played in a squad that was doing ambushes on APC's as they came out of the Airport, which was far more innovative than sitting on a rooftop and trying to kill a brit 300 meters away with an AK-47, only to have him one-shot you since he has a scope...
Fun is great, but just defending caches in Basrah right now is equivalent to making to a prick in the foot for the Brits...there should be some competition...

have to disagree with not enough people defending VCP, usually cant get the brits to leave the VCP at all, and they just sit there all round

Basrah is practically the only map i play, and the best version was a server that had vcp as uncap, with no airport. That way the action had to happen in the city, which i absolutely love. Wish I could remember the server
Cant wait for fallujah west, sounds like a city only map! yay!
