Are you suggesting that the default for the commander view would be the kit view? If so I would say let people find it on their own, it can be useful, but only if you have a clue as to what it means. Good commanders might use it, but there's no reason to force anyone to look at the mess you get when you make kits show up.

We will just keep it as it is, and if you like it, just switch it yourself.
There are good changes in 0.7 wrt to the kit icons, so that view will be a lot more useful.
