Does anybody know how to stop the game crashing when loading a new map?

I know that you already know about it, but its really iritating me and i was wondering if you know a fix to it.

tryn manuall uninstall & redownload whole client and then defrag after the install, just what i'd do anyway.
i mean thats never happn to me, gotta be something going on there with the files.

Do you have the BF2 1.41 Patch installed? Do you have PR 0.61 Full Client?

I uninstalled PR and Bf2 completely and reinstalled, and it still crashes..

Things like CTDs need you to be clean methodical and thorough.
Restart after every step. clean your registry afterwards.
uninstall the whole Shabang (look up definition of "shabang")
Then clean the registry.
Restart
Defragment
Restart
Install BF2
Restart
Check BF2 works, install patch
Restart
Check, Install PR
Restart
Check, install patch
Restart
Clean registry, defragment
Restart
If youve gotten this far and it still dosnt work, you're boned

^^^Yeah good advice, its a pain in *** but should fix it, dude it has to be somewhere in the pudding, no all CTD when mapps load. so try a fresh re-dowload of full client also but first go here & follow

check you have the 0.61 patch and 1.41 patch.uninstall And then delete every thing trace of any thing PR or BF2 wipe ever thing perge destroy ever thing( short of of nuking your computer that comes after)

If you're using Vista put textures and lighting to medium.

Actually, funnily enough I had this problem in PR, but never in FH2. The CTD loading new map every now and again never happened in FH2.
??: So maybe it can be fixed? (textures high on both BTW).

the link i put up a couple posts'^^^ there has a really good step by step manuall unistall that should remove anything, and a good reinstall & defrag should fix it.

I got same problem that when its loaded 50% game crashes without any error.
Defragment didnt help

LOL! I played it just few days ago fine. Then in xmas eve it just went like that., as i got a present from santa headset "Microsoft Live Chat". I uninstalled it didnt work.
I got
1.66gt Athlon +2000
768 RAM
ATI X1950 or what is the best AGP card.
And i use XP.

It goes to server now but still having one prob.
I can play great but ping start wobling from 70 - 136 back to 50 and then to 460.
This causes lag on me but dont know what makes the ping go so high on servers in europe and all others.
I have updated PB and all.

so you can play now but ping is whacky? uhhh high ping can be lotsa things, just make sure nothing is running in background (updates & stuff) make sure you net isnt laggin in other programs, could be the ISP .
