Trip Flares - Only for Snipers or what?

Quote from guide...
"Trip Flares are placed by Snipers to warn against enemy movement.

You can deploy a maximum of 4 Trip Flares, and they will stay present for up till 30 seconds after death. You can only deploy trip flares while in the prone position. Trip flares take 15 seconds to arm."

Can i suggest maybe these could be issued to more people than just snipers. Not neccassarly on all maps... but on certain maps.

I love the sound of these.. but i wanna use it to trigger a squad ambush or simular.... not just so i dont get knifed as a sniper.

Could engineers not have these as well?. (pretty please, with sugar on top, :mrgreen :)

EDIT: or is it a bit premature to be asking for a change to something that i havent even seen yet? :d uh:

They would be great for defense, so if the information is correct (trip flares will be in .7), than I would like to see them for more kits.

Not for engineers though, they already have a lot of stuff in their kit. Giving it to the rifleman with iron-sights would be better.

It's not even possible ATM - their inventory is already full.

I think it should go to a limited kit (just try to imagine the trip flare spam otherwise). IMO officer should get a few.

Trip flares are used as a warning to tell you when enemies are near by. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=w3FCDM0kF8w[/youtube]

It's a flare that goes of when the wire is touched.

The wiki says that now, but if the community complains enough about it, (aka pantomine style) then we can get the Devs to change their minds about who gets it.

I think trip flares should be used by normal troops for two purposes.

1) in likely approaches to bunkers/firebases to get warnings of enemy sappers coming in to blow your stuff up

2) for ambushes by squads. lie in wait, enemy set them off, everyone fires. ultimately supposed to be used on night maps, but the cnfusion and raised adrenhalin will confuse the ambushed troops :)

Give them to the spec ops :D

I'm by no means a Spec op 1337ist but if they already have flashbangs in 0.7 tripflares would be perfect for them. We'll hardly ever see them used, let alone proerly if only snipers can use them.

If spec ops could have them then it would be a reason to have him in your squad so he can lay down the flares for ambush and flashbang with the officer before the squad moves in to attack.

:P

They're not trip flares.

Also, the Wiki has been updated so you can see changes in 0.7 and get yourselves up to date before the release. It wasn't put up so that people could suggest pre-release changes.

They are staying with snipers only for the moment. We have considered all of the options and for the time being they will be staying for that one kit. They will most likely never be given to any base kit and especially not the engineer for many reasons.

Yes. The wiki should be used to learn more about the new stuff more than to suggest changes that we've already implemented. Thank you for your passion and enthusiasm tho.
