Bullet casings and holes

ok, ive been thinking about this suggestion for quite some time now. And now i noticed that it is possible since they have done it in FH2.
ok i have been thinking, why the bullet casings and bullet holes just disappear after a few seconds. as we all know, IRL bullet casings/holes don’t just disappear all of the sudden. now, i know it is possible so dont tell me this is hardcoded etc etc

.
is it possible to have this effect(bullet casings/holes not disapearing, just like the dead bodies) in PR. i mean, it would make the game more realistic!!
(btw i have searched the forum and this topic is not already suggested)
anyways i wanted to thank DEVs for their great work

Do you still want to trade these two things?
no because :
A.- they dont have colitions
B.- they dont make shadows
C.- they dont have effects attached to them

Would be a cool effect. I was noticing on Qwai today while spotting and shooting some chinese across the river from the safety of my steel fishing ship that when i fired I could hear the bullet casings stricking the ground and making a metal "ping" noise like they would make if stricking metal. Having this would be a treat for the eyes aswell. However if it slows down gameplay so much, in the form of lag then leave them out.

How's about,Be able to do slight damage by shooting through walls, and being able to lean on corners! cough..COD4...cough...

Way to post totally off topic. Bullet penetration is being addressed by the devs, I don't know about leaning.
Anyhow, it would be neat to have bullet holes/shell casings remain longer, but in all seriousness it is totally unimportant to gameplay. It could be changed, but is it worth it if you are going to see connection performance issues because of it?

So true.
Any object (even if it's just a simple cube without any textures) takes up a system resources. Now the question is: how many.
Imagine 2 support gunners laying down a covering fire. You don't want to tell me it wouldn't have any influence on FPS.
It would be nice to have this linked with graphic settings so the ones with lower specs system doesn't have to lag because of eye-candy.
Ah and BTW:
BloodBane611, leaning is impossible in BF2 engine (just as many other basic things).

A.- they dont have colitions
So how do they not go through the ground?!?
Because not having collision does not equal going through the ground
It simply means, that if a model does not have a collision, another model will not be able to
collide with it and will glitch through it.
Terrain has nothing to do here.

A vehicle isnt terrain, but another model, right? Because they dont go through vehicles and statics too.

About the leaning, I assumed it wasn't possible, but I was very tired at the time and couldn't bring myself to check it.
Spec_Operator, vehicles are indeed models.

It would be sweet to keep casing around for a while. It will also allow squads to become trackers. Find a bunch of sniper casings in one area? He might still be around!
If this can be done without too much lag, that would be sweet.

I believe this is in the works.
As for bullet casings, I asked my good friend and fellow moddor to "stress" test how many casings on the battlefield can exist before lag occurs then a complete crash on one of his top notch computers. Then we had planned to put that same setting on a low end PC and "stress" test there.
We haven't started because of all the school work we've had.
