I wanted to make this thread so that everyone could suggest whatever armies they want,why they would be cool, and if enough people want it then make it a community project. I will be posting my ideas a little later.EITHER POST OR OFFER SUPPORT,DON'T DISRESPECT SOMEONES IDEAS.

well, here is what I would like
Irish army
Italian army
Taliban
Mafia


Irish army:could play against UK.Would be very unique and would have a cool weapon set.
Italian army: would have another unique weapon set and would get the recognition it deserves.
Taliban:would be cool to play against the American Army faction that is coming out. WOuld be different the insurgents in that they are more organized and would be wearing all black with a tan chest rig.
MafiaWould be similar to the militia but with much better weapons and civilian clothing. Would fight Italian army.
That's what I think would be cool, not what I'm demanding as some people say

You don't need to make so many disclaimers, these forums are usually "flame proof"

Either way, a community project is ALOT of work, lucky for you we already have about 5 going, and probably about 70-90% done.

True. This would probably be better off in the community mods area or summin.

Lovin the idea of the mafia. I recoiled at the thought of it at first but it could be something like a city fight, where the italians have weapons that show they need to show restraint, maybe ticket penalties for destroying civvie houses too

As for the irish army... theres a lot of toes to step on there lol I think you mean the IRA.

They're all fine, but would be extremely hard to find a group to make it, then take a long time to start getting results. Italians have been suggested, and Insurgants are basically Taliban.

not sure if mafia woould work. the army doesn really fight against the mafia. irish vs british would be cool. dont think they would fight in real life, but id like to see two conventional modern armies fighting

The Mafia would be cool because the Italian army would be fighting them in Sicily.They wouldn't have body armor but they would have good weaponry.It would be kinda like insurgency, but Italian style.
The taliban would be nice because they could be fighting the army faction in a map based in Afghanistan.

IIRC the devs are declining any western battles because of a lack of statics and such.

but id like to see two conventional modern armies fighting

US/UK/Canada/Polish/IDF vs PLA/Russia/MEC ?

i dont get the mafia idea. Are they gonna fight in urban areas with BMWs against an army with APCs etc?

Irish Army hasnt fought an actual war in a while
Italian Army is very small, and thus not really worth all the work IMO
Mafia- Again, not really a modern warfare faction.

Taliban would be the same as Militia, albeit maybe different skins

This game is still about mid east and china, right? Mafia vs. Italy... uh... lol. Irish Army vs. Brits... also lol. These scenarios are so far away from PR... and not worth the work. Italian faction as regular army for one or two maps in mid east - If someone makes it as comunity project, why not? But not against the mafia lol. We have insurgents and militia already, thats enough imo. Taliban... uh... there are two kinds of insurgent maps: Insurgency gamemode like basrah and AAS2 maps - and these are kinda taliban-like already imo.
So taliban isnt really needed either.

Quality not quantity? Wouldn't it be better to properly finish off what is currently being done (AFAIK 12 factions) instead of trying to do everything half-arsed? I mean, if the new faction uses equipment which has already been made, there is interest in playing that faction, someone is willing to make some maps/skins for it and it fits within the scope of the mod, then it would be alright.

It would be nice to see Talibans, because one or two maps from Polish forces community mod were planed to be about Afghanistan... but you would probably need to create a new soldier models because Talibans look different than any other models I've seen in BF2 (+expansion, +boosterpack, +many other mods).

I don't know what perceptions you have of the relationship between the UK and Ireland but you're way off. Though I can't blame you with all the misconceptions that dwell around the subject.

Yeah, the British oppressed us (the Irish) for 800 years or so but it's all in the past. Shit happens, now we love each other. I have several mates who are in the Royal Irish. In fact, so is [R-Dev]Gaz

Italian = We already have Polish, IDF, Canadian, British, etc.
Irish = Fight the British? No way.

I know this isn't my place to say this but meh... Godfather could you stop spamming the suggestion forums full of " new faction this and "new faction that " personally i'm sick of it ... and when i look at the suggestions threads i like to see new- good ideas not ideas that the DEV's have thrown back in your face 12 times...

It would be good if you showed some degree of respect toward them as they do make this mod and they do make it as good as it is .. as for your ideas , the insergants acts as the taliban in pr , and well the irish are not at war....

PLEASE STOP POSTING ABOUT FACTIONS!!.

What we really need is a Zombie vs. Pirates map. Imagine the Pirates of the Carribean remakes...
