Second/Alternative airstrike.

i dont know if this has been suggested..
I once did see a documentary on Discovery where they described the A-10 warhog when being attacked. where first the area around you (if you dont see the place coming) becomes shot to hell with the huge cannon, then you hear the plane. and a moment later you get a few bombs up your ***.

I think that 1-3x A-10 planes, as requested air support thingy would be quite awsome.

Basicly it would be something diffrent from only the allready awsome badass single bomb. ==> first a spray of badass tank killing bullets, planes passes, then some lighter bombs.

Anyways.. tally ho! get ready for 0.7!

kinda reminds me of the A 10 air strike in world of conflict. i like it, but good luck getting it implemented.

The question is how long is too long? if its not long enough you get people who complain that they're being base/spawn raped by a JDAM. And considering that the vehicles now spawn later, one JDAM would wipe out every vehicle in a base... so now you sorta see why the respawn times are the way they are on the JDAM.

I have witnessed 4-5 JDAM's already. 2 of which I was commander and another I was SL.

The first time I saw one was on Qwai River. My squad was capping the Estate and one was dropped directly over our heads onto the Construction building at Estate. Basically all that happened was a huge mushroom cloud appeared over our heads and a loud boom. I looked up and all of us were untouched by the explosion and impact.

Basically, the JDAM cannot penatrate some buildings or structures.

The other time I saw it was when I was commander. The enemy commander dropped one on Government Office on Qwai River and when I asked my men if they were hurt, even the closest to the explosion weren't that hurt or not at all. I then retaliated by giving them one back on Government Office. It fell right after they capped it and when I asked the enemy team what happened, one guy said he was 20M away from the center and wasn't hurt at all. I have also heard other reports of this by people on servers.

Another round, I was on Qwai again and dropped it on the Chinese main base as commander and when I went through, I saw a lot of dead bodies there. Not sure if that was from the friendlies who attacked before or not, but it definately helped us cap their main.

My point is, the JDAM is kind of underpowered IMO because it is only really effective on certain terrains and even then, it can be a waste. I could see 30 minute respawn timers on the JDAM working unless the damage was upped on it. I like it, but 1 hour is kind of steep since the maps that last the longest(Kashan and Fools Road) are either never played or don't have it.

I had a JDAM land on top of a building 50ft from my squad. Didn't kill anyone for some reason but it sure scared the hell out me. This is what I head on the VOIP:

"Holy Shit!"
"What the &%$# was that!?!?"
"Damn...."
"Well we're lucky as hell."
"I think I just shat myself."

I only witnessed one JDAM, but I was dead and my cam was facing the other direction, so I guess I really just heard it. It didn't sound that good either.

It seems like it's really only effective against main bases, which generally contain a lot of open area for vehicle spawns etc, and places with many destructibles, like the villages on kashan.

But back to topic. How about Clusterbombs? Opk has it already ingame. Link or heretheres a other example for BF
Just make this to a Commanderweapon.

Well actually they used the Mk.77 Firebomb, which, according to USAF spokespeople, is actually "A remarkably Napalm like substance"

Anyway, at least 3 of the 4 factions in the game arn't signatories to the incendiary weapons treaty for sure, and that still only covers the use of incendiary weapons on areas with a civilian population.

As such, I endorse the idea of the addition of Napalm stirkes/the addition of napalm tanks to aircraft. If it could be done properly it would probably come in very handy for burning infantry out of defensive positions. And, you know, looking cool.

JDAM to 30 mins, or turn it into a Fuel Air / Massive Ordinance Air Blast... then you can make a nifty model for it as it parachutes down :D

(as well as decimate everything)

But as it stands, the JDAM isn't much of a tactical tool; it doesn't work right half the time (as bloodbane also agrees with apparently) and it's far too rare to be effective. 30 minutes would make it much more useful... any shorter and we risk spamming.

I think that cluster bombs should be employed as a tactical tool as well... that or a bomb type on the A10 / other aircraft.

I was driving an APC in the middle of the coal mine on Qinling. A JDAM hit and killed the 2 infantry and a tank almost directly underneath it (the area immediately around the flag and by the shed.) I was at the small depression in the crater and noticed a little bump. Not until I turned and saw all the dust did I realize that a JDAM hit next to us.

So yea, it is a bit weak.

Well if it was more lethal, combined with the "shock" effect which i've mentioned before. It would be perfect. I don't think we need to have them any more often at all. They would cease to be "special" if they were.

Clusterbomb attack as an alternate commander area attack - great. A-10 idea = terrible. Use a real A-10 in-game to create same effect.
