Why do we have a delay on the "M" map? And what exactly does it do exept being really annoying?

It's a sideeffect of removing the minimap IIRC... but it's more of a feature that simulates getting your map out, at least to me...

i just dont get it, why remove the mini & have to pull it out, just senselss IMO.

Because he's the SquadLEADER and plays a more important role than your regular grunt?

Because officers have radios?

in real life, you have to get out and unfold your map.

so all the troops have radios to recieve transmission from SL, but troops cannot transmit when they see a enemy?

I understand SL is more important, i mean im asking about common sense here, how come he can spot them & nobody else? how does he do it & troops able to see?? idont think i can put what i mean here.
i guess what i mean is me and 5 guys on a hill, (close to each other) and i see an ememy , all they here is "enemy activity" but the SL 14hundread miles away see same from a different angle/position and hits the spotted and they can see where he's talkin about....
its just crazy to me IMO.

They can. Just without a red symbol on the map.

Removing spotting prevents the common "spamming" of "enemy spotted" and the subsequent running towards/firing at a red dot.
Instead, it forces squads to use real voice comms to identify the location of the enemy. It also makes soldiers more tactically aware of their surroundings; paying more attention to the terrain instead of staring at a map.

Map delay because you it isn't realistic to always have you map in your hand. Stop, check the map, move out.
Removed spotting to prevent spamming, as wolfe said.

And reduces "blind spotting" where you just spam the spotted button till you get a positive result on the map actually showing an enemy moving around (even though you can't actually SEE the enemy).

yeah but this isnt reliable, you can hit spot & it be your teammate & it will say "enemy" so its an "eye idetification" it looks like.
i just think its dumb to make SL able to red dot an enemy, WTF i mean the grunts are suppost to be closest to enemy & SL's in rear right? should be opposite, and it is a form of comm's, u say it encourages VOIP, well heck that drags down time & bandwith, plus lazy peep wont, no mic wont, and if you think of it spotting "'the old way" is communication, u see the enemy u are taking a few seconds to tell ur team even though its a red dot u are communicating.

I hope the minimap returns next release. Squad cohesion (with the spawn system too) is VERY difficult on public servers.
There is no advantage to removing the minimap and lots of disadvantages. The devs have states they want to make PR as realistic as possible while remaining a fun game to play. I think they might have crossed the line with the change.

I see it more as a very very large grey area than an absolute line when you try to mash "fun" together with "realism".

Normally, when you press M, the minimaps enlarges to the big map. With the minimap removed, this enlarging is still active, yet invisible. That's why it looks like it only appears after 1-2 sec

Yes. i like how FH2 did there spotting. It only goes as far as teh human voice can travel. But The Squad leader is COMMANDING the squad. he has a bigger role then you basic foot soldier. Hence why he can spot them with his map. But he still has to take it out and put a marker down.

It forces your squad to communicate and stick together, makes it so that you have to actually be aware of what is going on around you, and it adds realism to a reality mod.
