A few tweaks, and that could be one of the most fun game modes ever.

It's still there, it's just broken.

I liked it too, but it never really got played that much.

yeah i never got to try it cuz none of hte servers i played on had it in its rotation, but it looks really cool

but... how? i remember playing it in .5 and it worked... just not enough people played it.

I thought the deal was that the DEVs couldn't get checkpoints working properly, so ditched it.

I loved extraction! To bad it was almost never played.

Other then the fact that no one understood what to do it was good fun. There was that one server that was running 24/7 extraction and people got the hang of it.

I didn't really like the one where you had to cross the river (I think one of the first PR maps to have to motorbike, back when it was almost impossible to drive.)


I would love to see it return though

Yeah, I never really got to play it, but I can't image how much fun it must be to escort a VIP car with humvees and APCs, with airsupport by choppers and tanks securing vital tactical points etc.

I hope it will return someday.

Why escort a VOIP car with APC's when they VIP is more safe in a APC

Basrah .5 Xtract was probably one of, if not THE, best PR map. Far better than the AAS version thats for sure.

Whenever I played it everyone seemed to work together, even in a pub game. Some great moments driving in the convoy, having to stop to clear the area up ahead and feeling the nervousness and jitters start to rise because you didn't want to stay in the same place for very long.

Because on some maps there was a VIP SUV you had to drive?

Don't know if you ever played it, but you had to extract a VIP, which was 'activated' once someone got into the VIP car. (a black SUV)

I played it alot, and i know how it works. But it suppose to be a VIP in the car and irl the vip would be safer in a apc then a SUV even if its armoured hehe

I quess it is/was best for gameplay, since you can take it out with smallarms fire, while you can only take out an APC with AT.
Agree, he would be safer in an APC.

i loved the black suv, altho i couldn't play that mode much coz i remeber that basrah used to lag alot.

I only played it few times back then, but I remember it was an awesome fun !

Unfortunately no one knew what to do...

Some friends and I had an extraction server, and once or twice a week it would be maxed out with players. We'd have extraction nights. Mostly it was Basrah extraction, since it was the best designed for it.

I'll never forget driving the VIP SUV safely to the airport when suddenly a car comes out of no where with a guy out of the sunroof with an RPG, fires it and a friendly humvee blocked the RPG for us. Ultimate sacrifice, probably for some greedy oil baron too. Haha.

Boy oh boy was it hilarious.
