surely a connection issue is more to do with the internet connection as apposed to your actual computer?

or am i missing something.

Just a wild thing here. Try new graphics card drivers and try running on only one core (after you start up bf2 set bf2.exe affinity to only one core in the task manager).

Probably nothing to do with it but worth a try I guess, as I know ninja has tried everything with PB.

Cheers lads ill try that just one core thing, wont that affect performance?

This has only started happening with 0.7 :S

EDIT: Just tried the one core thing didnt work... :(

I think its something to do with Intel Core 2 Duo

what mobo chipset do you got?

can you please check if your RAM useage goes to 100%? its really helpful to have a G15 keyboard to constatnly update your RAM useage.

my friend trufret has this same problem and we think it might be chipset or cpu related

Tell me, when you lose the connectionm it kciks you to Servers menu or desktop?

<Maybe its a server crash, it happens

its router-related (as well as cpu/mobo related) restart your router and youll be able to play again for a while without getting kicked.

Me too.
it got me to server menu.
Have an AMD X2 6000, 4GB, 8800GTS/320.
I even start BF2.EXE dedicated to 1 cpu core.
No such probs with .6

Yeh i never had ANY problems with 0.6 its only 0.7 so i dont think its Hardware related maybe this will be fixed in 0.7 patch?

I have a G15 and suffer from the same issue from time to time. It is not a RAM resource issue from what i have seen. I think its a packet loss issue related to dual core rigs, servers, or just a bad connection for varies reasons.

every 50-60 minute it seems to occur for me my rig is really low end but it seems like its a looping thing of some sort or a scheduled process? PB again? ill try updating the newtowrk card driver but where on earth would i find that ive looked on the asus site i can find anything

i've had that problem for quite a while - sometimes even every 30 min

so i checked BF forums and such

today i can play very long sometimes even a night through if my router doesn't do the 24h reconnect

1. first off: >> Link to a topic from the Hardware section <<

2. major thing i did that i think helped:
as dumb as it sounds... turn off EAX - i know PR dev praise it but bf and eax and onboard Realtek stuff (i think) doesn't work together well

3. another thing:
add "pb_sleep 500" to the "gamelogicinit.con" in the .../bf2/mods/pr
ends up something like this:

Code: Select all

gameLogic.noVehiclesOmit ars_d30
gameLogic.noVehiclesOmit usart_lw155
gameLogic.noVehiclesOmit usaas_stinger
gameLogic.noVehiclesOmit igla_djigit

pb_sleep 500
endrem

renderer.drawfps 1
also try installing newest drivers (one should always try new drivers first, in my opinion)

also: i read in a lot of forums that the solution to run the game in single core mode is confirmed to help (not applicable for single core CPUs! :/)
thats it for now, if i remember more i'll add it

I suffer from this problem and it has got worse in 0.7. In 0.6 i used to just update punkbuster but now especially after i have been playing for a while in the evening i will just lose connection and not be able to hold connection if i try to rejoin, even after manually updating punkbuster restarting my router etc. I think that it could be my router getting to hot or something as it happens in the evenings mainly. It has done it two nights in a row now on .7 and it didn't use to do it on .6.

I had the same problem long time ago. Connection lost at very random time. As far as I remember It was solved by clearing the content of all the cache folders in \my documents\battlefield 2\mods\. Also check this link:http://www.grinn.net/blog/dev/2006/11/your-connection-to-server-has-been-lost.html it has a list of possible solutions to the problem. Also try closing every program running in the background. I hope this will help.

fixed it!

try and play single player, and if it works its definatly not your system and more a internet/routing issue.

Try a different network card, sorted mine out instantly.

I had this problem for the longest time, soooo annoying.

.:iGi:.NinjaJedi hit the problem for me right on the head. I reinstalled the network card and all was fixed. No more problems unless the server actually crashes.
