Deviation Pattern for Main AR's- Screenshot Test

I test on the M16, G3, L85 and QBZ on a LOCAL SERVER. I used the Soflam to check the holes, I had to run up to 70m's and then take a screenshot real quick. Both times I was aiming with a 1-2 count at the center of the bigger red dot where the bars come together. Shots were from a prone, settled position. Everything is at 100 yrds. These guns seem to be fine...although the G3 you cannot aim as quicky I think and it is for sure less accurate. All 5.56 guns felt similar for the most part...the QBZ pattern here is nice but I think I had a couple of good slow shots. It does seem to help to wait 2 full seconds before firing for a very nice shot. Now the L85 works FINE on my local server, where as the other night we saw some strange, very consistent firing to the left???!??!? This is really weird. Rico and I BOTH tested it last night on the DVB server if I remember correctly and it was off for both of us MULTIPLE times. So we'll have to test in-game with the other guns and see if we can reproduce this on a live target maybe to make sure the decals aren't screwy or something trivial like that.

For me weapon accuracy (so far) is better than ever.
You need to stop moving before shooting to be accurate, and when you are, your shots don't miss despite the distance. In EJOD Desert today, killed many enemies almost as far as the view distance or fog goes, with M16

Same here V3NON. Love the new system.

You are quite right in doing so. The pistols are as accurate as the M16A4's (18 MOA groups standing, 14.4 MOA groups crouched and 12 MOA groups prone) which are in turn more accurate than the G3A3's (27 MOA groups standing, 21.6 MOA groups crouched and 18 MOA groups prone). All values are for the best case scenario (perfectly still for >1 1/3 seconds and with slow single shots).

Feels like the Devs are taking revenge for G3>M16 in 0.6.
Will we improve upon the G3's handling system? Most likely.
Will calling our first attempt at it "retarded" and "fucked" motivate us at all to do so?

All these changes have done is alter the balance of power imo.
My ping is often over 100. Now a pause is helpfull and ping is a lesser percentage of success in CQB, it means my KDR is higher then ever when Im infantry. No wonder some guys are pissed
Use the G3 on single shot (rapidly)

No way, the ACOG m16 is the master right now, far more accurate than all the other guns, or so it seems.

I find the g3 to be just as good as any other rifle dont know what all the fuzz is about.

It does have massive recoil, fire it full auto with no attempt to correct it and you go from pointing at your feet to staring at the sky in one clip.
Luckily I was attacked the other day while dropping a medic patch and killed him ok because of that awful recoil

Its recoil is now so massive so even when you come up behind some stupid USMC andopen fire on him 8/10 he will turn round and shoot you whilst your reloading.
The whole reason for having a 7.62 × 51 mm round is for ACCURACY.
Not to mention that the accuracy at range VS the M16 is always a losing battle due to the fact that even if you lay down wait 5 sec and then start firing in semi-auto your rounds are horribly inaccurate.
After playing 2 rounds of Ejod yesterday I have totally given up on the G3 and I now spend 80% of my time with the MR-444 out instead.
So in a nut shell. The CQC and the ranged combat is completely fucked.

Did you even look at my screenshots dude?? The G3's accuracy isn't that much worse at 100yds. I wasn't waiting for 5 seconds between each shot either...if I did the bullet holes for my shots would have disappeared and you would have only seen 1 or 2 maybe. After I fired them I had to run up to 70m's and double zoom the Soflam to see them. They don't render at 100m's.
The G3 is an easy hit at 100yds on center mass if you shoot normally. Wait 1.3 seconds to aim...then fire and slowly go pop, pop, pop. It's also a TERRIBLE CQB weapon IRL for the most part. There is a very good reason why many the best CQB Teams in the world go with 5.56 rnd.

the bf2 engines responds differently when firing on statistics or players.

Are you saying my bullet is going to change its trajectory because I'm firing at a person? I shot right over rico's head when I did my testing and it didn't effect anything. Rico actually SHOT me (big surprise), his bullet went through the tin wall when he was testing and it was still within our patterns. Sure their is hitbox detection etc etc but that doesn't have much to do with a stationary target.
Eitherway if the engine isn't effecting my bullets trajectory (deviation) then that issue is a constant no matter if we have deviation or not.

I remember on cs the deviation was decided by the server not the client and anything you saw clientside was just visual. The actual hit was decided by the server and might well land elsewhere from your bullet mark.
Not sure how bf2 works on this though
Thats why I prefer shooting explosive barrels to marks on the wall or whatever when Im trying to decide how to handle a gun. If the barrel goes off then even the server agrees with me because that info is transmitted to every other client on the server

I've done testing on localserver and online. I've seen the same results on both and it matches up with what I experience in-game while shooting stationary targets. Barrels is a very good idea for longer range testing (like 200yds). A barrel is about the size of a center mass human.

It would be better for comparison if you were to fraps with one person and have another shoot from a distance. Bullet holes disappear after a few shots and having 4-5 shots to compare isn't so useful.

I did that with Rico...didn't fraps it but he and I were taking screenshots while the shooter was shooting. The patterns were just like what you see here.
What I really want to do is have Rico go run out there as a medic and stand while I shoot him at 200-300yds as he heals himself. Nothing better than a live target. Either way I'm convinced about what I've seen and it works in-game for me at least.
A good fraps video would sure help alot of guys learn how to shoot in PR though I think.
