Helicopter controls

Is anyone else not so thrilled about the changes in helicopter controllability?
BF2 sucks in general as far as helicopter controls go, but the new changes make it suck just a bit more.

If you cant fly it dont, because their are plenty of people who can with ease.

No, they're just another step closer to the real helicopter flight. Don't ruin it, it can only get better.

I can fly them, I just think it's a step in the wrong direction.
I was messing around with the 64 and 53 and they're not too bad. The 60 and the 6 are horrible though.

No.

You say no but you give no back story of how you know the correct physics of helicopters. I like what the ever the developer's decisions are because they make them on the supervision and advice of their military advisers.

I'm a helicopter pilot.
I'm not raggin about the game or the developers. They put a lot of work into this mod and it shows. I don't know the details of how aircraft work in BF2 and I'm not even going to guess. I understand it's just a video game and BF2 wasn't designed as a flight sim, but the 60 and the 6 are too easy to overcontrol. The 64 and the 53 are pretty solid, short of the helicopter moving around on the ground with the collective full down(or pressing S if you use the keyboard) but that's no big deal.
I was just putting it out there to see how others felt about it and give a bit of feedback. Take it for what it's worth.

Sure you are.
Anyways, I found the BH's easier to fly in this edition.

Hey jim, it'd be cool to hear the input of a real pilot and your experience as one. What do you fly personally? What should be different and how, regardless of BF2 limitations. Are the 64 and 53 really that solid in regards to real chopper flight?? Seems like BF2 would mess up our chances for that but the dev's are pretty damn good!

I find the choppers fine, as always.
Landing is a little tricky in hot situations, but in general it's fine!

I hate the fact that the helichopter banks to the left when you want it to bank to the right when your using the S key to desend...

Banks to the right to me; and it's not banking - It's STALLING
Hold down the S key for more than like 3 seconds and your chopper will hit the ground like something else hitting toilet water.
Sorry if you're eating
One thing useful about the new decent, is I can reverse on the ground by holding down S - The chopper rolls backwards.

Ya got me. I was just making that up to impress you. Not anyone else, just you. Now that you've seen through my lie I won't be able to sleep for a week.
Moving along... Vipers, I fly the OH-58D. The actual controls of the Apache and Merlin (the Merlin looks like a mini-Pavelow that's why I called it a 53) aren't quite realistic, but they aren't in Microsoft Flight simulator either. They are closer to the real thing than any other version of BF2 though. You fly the Apache and Merlin just like you would in real life, there's no need to yank on the controls like you need to with the Hawk and Little Bird just to maintain control. I'm sure with a little bit of tweaking the Hawk and Little Bird could be the same way, they just lag a bit too much.

true but bear in mind for a "real" feel we would have to have 3+ separate controls to simulate it and there are no chopper stick on the net for flight sims that i know of.

Practise and soon you will see how this change made your pilot life easier.
You wil be more careful as you know that if you are not gentle the chopper will 100% crash.
practise and don't complain.
if you don't want to practise then all i can say is don't fly.
