The Marines and other US forces most certainly do use shotguns, but they are a specialized weapon not used in all situations. Combat engineers usually carry an M16 rifle just like their infantry counterparts, but may carry other weapons. In PR they will most likely have a choice between a rifle and the shotgun.

Yeah, hes right. I did a couple of shotgun ranges, myself. I was just an 0311 rifleman at the time. Never personally took one to the field, though. They are killer in a MOUT environment.

Personally I want more shotguns. Looks like those guys are packing body armor, no? I still want an assault with body armor, flashbangs, smokers and a pump action shotgun (because it looks cooler holding them than the automatics).

what looks cool is generaly "not" realistic though specops should have a shotie as well as an M4 seeing as they use them for raids and other stuff 3 shells though

But it is obviously realistic. The guys on the image carry body armor and shotgun.

If this was to be implemented, id say give them the M4 Masterkey.
Awesome weapon. Mostly used by Special Forces teams as an entry weapon, hence the name Masterkey.
Works like an M203 launcher, except its replaced by a heavly modified Remington 870 12 Guage.

my vote is for keeping shotguns as an alternative for engineer class, the primary gun should be m16a2/ak74m though.

I think the primary weapon should be a carbine, or possible even an SMG. Make the classes a bit more diversified, The last thing we really want is to have three classes using the same weapon, it just makes us look lazy lol. {P.S} That US shotty looks great, how about having that as a CQB weapon, so you have a choice of nade launcher, or shotty if you play as an assault?

That's not a Franchi SPAS 12, the US never adopted those. Not sure if anyone outside of maybe the Italian forces and a lot of movie prop-weapons companies ever did. That's an M1014 Joint Service Combat Shotgun (H&K/Benelli M4 Super 90).

Exactly! I love the grenade launcher, but each weapon has its own place. Sometimes I dont want a grenade launcher, I want something that can just plow through the enemy at CQB. That's what I do when I'm assault, that's my job. I want the weapons to do it with

The engineer just isnt fit for the task without the body armor, I'd rather have an M16 as engineer!

the masterkey tho sexy would be kinda pointless in BF as its mostly used to bust open doors, not something you do alot of in BF2

True, even if doors were placed in buildings, there would be too much mapping necessary for there to be a point to open the door. I think that perhaps the Engineer should have an SMG and a shotgun perhaps.
Does anyone know what real USMC engineers are equiped with?

Its not really much mapping. We already have "doors" in BF2: The wooden obstructions in fences and similar. All you need is to make a door and place it in a doorway instead (some BF2 buildings are good for this). The REAL issue is that gameplay is way too fast paced (even in PRMM) to take the time to blow a door with a shotgun, lol.

interesting
and actually it wouldnt be that hard to make doors that open, if you can make it so that landing gear retracts into and aircraft you can animate a building model with a door that opens. hmmmmmmmmmmmm the possibilities

Or you could just use the masterkey as a shotgun and a breaching tool. It is primarly breach weapon but works nicley in CQB situations.

Ur right on low res that looked like a spas.
