Spotting Suggestion

Please, don't kill me, lads. ;)

I'm aware about all the discussions going out in the forums about the new spotting mechanism, in which you have to spot it through VoIP. Okay, okay, I know. I like it too, it reminds me of ol' WWII online times. But as said, it's really a mess if you're playing w/ people that don't speak english. Also, it's not as intuitive as it used to be.

Ok, leaving all this blah blah blah behind, I'd like to suggest this: When you spot an enemy, there could be a mark in the compass that indicates an enemy position. Let's say something like this:

It could be something static, not as usual spot that indicates the exactly enemy position for awhile and could stay for, let's say, 10 secs? Just so people can be aware of enemy's direction.

Anyway, do you think it's possible?! I'd be glad to hear what you think about it.

That is indeed a grate idea!
Would reduce the amount of chatter and bring peace to ears, without bringing the damn minimap problem and BTW, would be one incredible advantage for tankers! :D

O' mighty devs .. Tell us if this is truly possible!

I like the chatter and the fact that you HAVE to communicate now...therefore i can`t say that i like the idea.

I also like the chatter... When it's done the rite way.

When all your squadies and the commander start yelling all sorts of informations/spams at the same time on a pub-server, it kills any kind of coordination and/or gameplay effort and at the same time, kills the possibility of spotting. :cussing:

But this system is not like the minimap tho : it doesn't tell you exactly where, but in which direction the enemy is, thus still requiring the spotter to give you more information so you have a more accurate location. It's in no way the uber-navigator the minimap is, but more of a situational awarness helper. 8-)

In a real battlfied you can point a position and move while still knowing or feeling where this position even when not looking at it, to a certain extent. This is likely to simulate the same feeling of situational awarness in the example. (with some limits = no unlimited tracking) Also, as it is now impossible to spot and track the target with the spot icon in 0.7, this would show an immobile spot location and not an exploitable uber-target-tracker.

I don't like it - I prefer constant readio communication in 0.7!

this is a really good idea, a game can never recreate the situational awareness you get in real life hence why we need things like this to help us out.
