Whats the deal when landing a chopper and it starts sliding across the ground backwards uncontrolably? Is that me not understanding the tweaked flight model or is it a bug?

yep, dont hold down S, s makes u drop like a stone till your on the ground, andwhen on the ground it keeps wanting to go down furhter, and only way to move anywhere without imploding is if it slides

I use a joy stick??? would it then be my throttle?

Yeah, you need to have it pretty neutral when landing, or the chopper will try to taxi like a jet or something.

I have crushed several passengers before I realized that pulling the throttle all the way back like before is a bad thing :P

Funny...I actually really like the backwards slide. To many times I come in for a quick landing and out of nowhere my nose starts to drop and the thing is like flipping forward or some nonsense. This extra bit of backward thrust (easy to control on the keyboard) totally takes care of that.

it doesn't matter if you press S. when you hop in a chopper you automatically slide backwards or forwards.. very annoying.. especially the havoc on kashan, when you hop in and do nothing (for some reason) you crash with your tale in the wall and then you're done.

Some of the helis need active stabilizing by the pilot even when seemingly idle on the helipad.
Some people continually enter and exit the vehicle to stop the engines reaching full power because of this.

The smaller helis are fine when just left I think

it's fun to watch someone slide accross the airfiled like a ice skater, but not when your in it

I have no idea what you are talking about here...I've been practicing in the choppers ALOT and I have never had this happen once. I use a mouse/keyboard. If you have a joystick it could be that it's not calibrated perfectly yet.

The problem with chopper controls in PR is that they seem to be designed for mouse and keyboard. With a joystick, you need to position the throttle perfectly mid-way between max and min setting in order to stop sliding. It's counterintuitive, and makes flying a chopper with a joystick somewhat awkward.

it happens always when the havoc has spawned. hop in and do nothing for about 3 till 5 minutes ends up as a dead havoc because it slightly slides backwards and your tale rotor hits the wall causes a immediately death. i have seen this quite a lot times now..

Ah well I have never hopped in and sat in one spot in a chopper for 5 minutes. I guess I could test that on a local server. Why are you sitting there for 5 minutes? Seems odd but I'm no expert...just curious.

Yeah I been testing to neutral, not big deal with me, but I still find the BH more maneuverable than LB. And I will apreciate if LB would slip front, back and sideways while hovering. It has to feel lighter than any other chopper.

My blackhawks fall off the carrier on zatar wetlands because they slide backwards very slowly as soon as the engines start.
