Bullet Deviation

Has anyone else noticed the G3/QBZ bullets seem to deviate more (Speaking relative to the M16 and L85) when fired even after the 5 second steadying period?

Is this just in my head, or was it intentional or is it going to be changed in the next patch?

The QBZ, L85A2 and the M16A4 all have the same random deviation. The G3A3, however, has more. The steadying period is only 1 and a third of a second from running, walking, crawling, strafing and as it turns out from turning. When changing position the deviation is instantaneously at it maximum value no matter what the movement is. When turning, it takes two sever frames (ie 1/15 of a second) for the deviation to get to it's maximum value (which is only 1/10 of the maximum possible movement deviation).

this deviation thing is killing me... a person who is right infront of me i cannot shoot because of me standing up, so i immediately have to go prone to actually hit something... its ridicolous at times....

I've found both the M16A4 and the QBZ95 to be very accurate, even when moving and unscoped. Not as accurate as 0.7, but still good enough to kill someone with 2 or 3 bursts.

The G3 is a bloody monster. I hate it with a fiery passion.

Yep, I'd swap the G3 for anything ingame. For some reason the QBZ seems more inaccurate than the L85 or M16, maybe the tracers on it, it seems like it has tracers more often. Anyway M16 seems like it needs a nerf or/and G3 needs a boost.

Search and ye shall find more info with screenshots of the guns shot patterns at 100yds. ;) Not to much of a difference...the G3 does have slightly more deviation but not much.

Well it's more of a bother at 300+ metres (estimation, also I assume you mean 100 metres? I have no idea how big a yards is :/) where m16s can nail you square in the face and the g3 pops off 2 metres away from him. The only effective way to fire like that is jack in the boxing.

*SIGH*

Guys, I can't repeat this enough:

Aim.
Count "1,2,3,Shoot"
Fire.
Re-aim.
Count "1,2,3,Shoot"
repeat until target drops.

Honestly, instead of opening fire the second you see somebody, take the time to aim carefully and wait a fraction before opening up on them.

There is no problem with the G3 - you just need to take that time to let your sights settle.

Does deviation affect looking around? I can imagine it's near impossible to shoot moving targets with deviation unless you leave the scope ahead, instead of guiding?

kinda annoys me when i spot someone, prone, place crosshair on centre of mass, wait for 5 seconds, fire, miss, and he swivels round and instantly nails me in the head.

it just bring upon one of those WTFBULLSH*T moments and is insanely frustrating.

i can see where the idea of deviation comes from but its sure as hell far from perfect

this deviation is ridunkulous. it doesnt matter how long i sit and look at something, i can NEVER seem to hit it. i think its just stupid to have in a cone of fire type game

If either of you lads are talking about the DM/Sniper rifles you should know by now that they are fubar and will be fixed in the patch.

I have tried the patient route with the G3, started off with it in fact. I was not well rewarded. I don't know if there's something I'm missing or what. I believe the way it works is that if you even move your sights you're back to the 3 second waiting period?

Sounds like he got lucky. People act like only their team is affected by deviation or something... he's just as likely to miss you, and he also has to steady his gun for at least 1.3 seconds (<<<<<< PAY ATTENTION FELLAS BECAUSE THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF PEOPLE MIXED UP, IT IS NOT 5 SECONDS, NOT 3 SECONDS, IT IS A MERE 1.3 SECONDS... A MINOR DELAY). There is no "insta HS" anymore except via luck.

1 1/3 seconds isn't particularly minor, considering a snapshot should take about 1/3 of a second.

As nedlands said above, not all weapons are equal in deviation. For the most part they are, but the G3 has greater deviation than the others.

Sounds like some guys need to head to the shooting range! ;) Seriously...start a local server and play with some of the guns. Set an attack marker at 100yds and try to shoot a tight pattern after moving some, waiting for 1-2 seconds and shooting consecutive shots. Get a feel for it. Single shot is your best friend. You should be able to crouch and fire...prone and fire. Eventually you'll know what it takes to hit accurately.

I even manage to hit targets at 50 yards with the G3 on full auto.. Don't know where you guys are talking about.

Test fire on explosive barrels, puffs of dirt is not likely to be quite as definite.

A barrel explosion takes two hits at least I think so I equate this to a kill. I did this in 0.5 even, though I always used to use full auto then.
Obviously the barrel is static so use this as a medium to long range test that will give you some good feedback when you do it right.

A two shot burst on an AK is much better then three, if can you fire off a quick burst and get an explosion straight away at medium range then your pretty good imo

More then two fired on the same barrel and its harder to tell which of your shots was the accurate one :/

I'd like every map to have a shooting range like this at the ucb.

1 1/3 of a second as a ping would be 1333ms on the scoreboard I think or maybe 667, either way you can recognise that is a dam long time in a game

When firing G3 full auto you should be pulling down on the mouse, which is a pain to do in a game
