The resulting effect have never been done before, and only 3D stéréoscopical glasses could help doing something like that.

This is amazing and in fact any 3D game could benefit of that.
I am wondering if BF2 engine have enough configurability and programming hooks to be able to take an external input device informations and realize this.

It's not technically hard to do, that's what is impressive.

Seeing as how TrackIR won't work with PunkBuste(d/r), I can't imagine that this would.

However I believe that it is possible to create stereoscopic images with an Nvidia card.

well, you don't need sterescopic stuff to get that.

I guess that's not you meant, but in case of ... ^^

Anyway it's mostly about knowing if the BF2 engine have such hooks that could allow to mod that, and see how it looks.

Freelook: A Software Headtracker for Games and Handicapped Access

cheapest solution for head tracking

And besiedes it wouldnt matter if you used jonny lees mod whatever, Battlefield 2 just has one viewpoint with x and y rotaion.
In order to what danny dose for BF2, you will need to combine movement with visual rotaion to the tracking device. witch really makes no sence sience you cant lean in bf2, and there are only 3 view levels prone crouched and standing, and seeing how you can free roam whereever you want tracked movement is not needed.
But it would be nice to have movemnet like thaat in a plane or heli, if you played flight sim X or IL2 beaing able to track your head like this inside a vehicle

YouTube - IL2 6dof-Ta183 version 4.08

Would be great for spotting and tanks and what not while flying, also you can look arround the cockpits frame to see things blocked by your normal view.

But for now the only FPS that i know that supports trackir is ArmA (bf3 shuld do somthing like this), witch seprates your weapon movement from your head, so if you wanta to shoot where you looking, you will need to turn you body to where your facing to shoot, like this.

Head tracking + 3D glasses would be uber sweet. Next gen gaming is going to rule, except for all the arcadey twitch-shooters of course. :(

You know why this is gonna take ages to catch on?

Cause no one wants to wear freaking gaming goggles to play a video game.

I don't know about that. I'd wear them. With TrackIR that would be amazing.

Youve obviously havent tried a tracker of anykind. Its very addicting using it cuz you get immersed in the environment and instead of feeling like your staring through a tube. Loads of fun using it in ARMA specially in CAS missions.

I wear glasses anyway, if I could just clip a couple of IR lights on and game like that it would be awesome. :-)
