Duck, Crawl, Look, Fire - The Lance Corporal Jones Way!

I was watching Dad's Army the other day and L-Corp Jones was showing the men what to do if they come under fire, and as much sense as it made, I'm just wondering if it'd be useful on PR - Perhaps get some folks to help test?

The idea currently, is that when you get shot at, in MOST situations you go prone and fire back; but the enemy knows where you are.

Jones' idea went that he was taught to go prone when under fire, then crawl BACK a little bit before opening fire - The idea being that the enemy will be firing where you were, rather than where you are now; when you pop up and cap him sommat rotten.

Of course, this only works if you're both on a similar height level and in cover, The grass in Qwai River's Government Offices, for example.

Thoughts?

The supression effect is susposto enforce that kind of reaction, Play FH2 and try shooting back when someone unloads a bren in your direction. (thier supresion effect is much harsher than PRs)

but in urban* warfare its kinda hard to prone and back off sence most fighting happends at ground level, unless your on a building.

It's a basic drill that any trained soldier is taught to this day.

I'm certainly going to try it some more on PR :)

Remember what Operation Flashpoint taught you: don't pop out from cover in the same place multiple times - the enemy will expect you there.

Yeah, Fire and Manouvre.

Pull back out of sight,
move to the side,
come forwards into view,
fire a round/burst,
repeat.

Theres actually a brilliant example of this in the Brit thriller show "Ultimate Force" where two of the team are holding off the enemy in the woods (Bosnia area set episode) whilst the rest of the party including a rescued hostage puts some distance away from the site. The energy involved to do it is enormous, the results effective.

IRL this is what you would do, but since this is a game you never know what people are gonna do. While you are crawling 10 seconds they could sprint the distance and shank you in the face.

Indeed. This tactic is still extremely useful, but make sure he's not ramboing you while you maneuver.

Exactly my point. You never know what anyone is going to do in these situations. That's what makes them so fun.

Thats why noobs and people with imagination are to be the most feared, while you are following proper "procedure" he'll just pull something insane and pwn you.
